This was beautiful, young but beautiful. Gorgeous depth but super zesty. Crunchy fruit meets honeyed, leesy depth, along with complex chalk dust, minerals and biscuits. I'd love to see what this does in 10 years.
This bottle has aged really nicely. Vibrant, salty, brisk and pretty but plenty of textural depth. Lemon curd, yellow apples, topped in honey, salt brine and chalk.
Juicy and plump, this boasts lots of ripe cherries and strawberries on a dusty frame with lively acidity. The fruit is pure and lively, and leads the way, but there's also plenty of roses, earthy and iron notes. Delicious.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
I like the smoky, beefy, spicy, tobacco on the nose, on top of still fresh raspberries. Spicy and fresh on the palate, it has a bright, herbal aesthetic, and juicy raspberry and strawberry fruit. Tannins still structured but the edges are all rounded out, and there's a nice mix of herbal, savory, dried flower and earthy complexity. Seems to be drinking quite well now but definitely could hold.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
Sappy, black cherries on the nose with roses and violets. On the palate, the fruit is really juicy, more black cherries, and vibrant, expressive. Notes of violets, clove and earth. A round wine but enough acidity to keep it lively. Interested to see what another two or three years does to this.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny
Young (of course) but very pretty. Showed sappy cherry fruit, lots of roses, violets and herbs on the nose. So crisp and bright, with tight but relatively accessible tannins. So much floral complexity in here, rounding out the juicy black and red cherry fruit. Notes of spice and earth linger underneath. Balance is really something, and this should do some excellent things in another four or five years.
This was surprisingly held-together. Still shows some fruit on the nose, along with tomato leaf, soy and earthy, forest floor notes. Dusty-light tannins, vibrant acidity, the wine still shows some red fruit and a lot of minty, herbal, earthy tones. Yummy stuff!
