A little more grassy, funky, mineral than the Sancerre and, hence, for me, more interesting. With time a creamy note as well on the nose. Juicy, bone dry, tangy, fresh, a little short though. Hmm
Mineral; quite struck flint, with a citrus backing - lemon - and a touch of honeysuckle. Bone dry, a little sour, very slight burr on the mid palate. Little else for me. Meh.
Medium minus intensity aromas of lemon...not much else. Mouthwatering sour acidity and a textured/waxy quality that puts me in mind of Sake more than wine. a little front of mouth grip. Hmm.
France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Savennières Roche aux Moines
Lemon, orange, honey, orange blossom. Juicy acidity, an almost liquor quality to the muted lemon, orange fruit. Waxy mid palate. Hmm, there is a slightly oxidative quality with time, long and funky, quite astringent. Meh.
Rocky, ashy, pencil shavings, slightly sour cherry. In the mouth it's sour, juicy, fruit a little sweeter but equally muted with a touch of apple and textured grip. Hmm.
France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Anjou-Villages
Earthy, mineral, wild red berry, a little sweet spice, pencil shavings, very slightly farmyard. Juicy, talc textured tannins, berry fruit, long. Kind of nice (says the Bordeaux lover...)
Bretty, earthy, ashy, sulphur all rather swamping quite rich (for Anjou) cherry and berry fruit. More fruit sweet on the palate with juicy acidity, alcohol warmth and flour textured tannic burr. Long. Hmm.
