France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
Pleasant black cherry with some emerging nuance on the nose. Juicy light-to-medium weight concentration. VV isn't coming through at this stage or in this vintage. Juicy, meaty red fruit character. 87-88
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Most intense nose in the line up so far. Lifted red fruits with floral and spice notes. Palate is so well constructed -- smooth, spice-filled black cherry with velevty tannin. Spice is really intense here and the length is very good. 90-92
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
A real step up here. Dense and primary nose with black cherry and plenty of spice/earth that lurks beneath the fruit. Rich, dense and powerful on the palate with GC concentration in full display. The tannins are surprising tame and there is a nice restraint in the wine's finish. Perhaps this vintage will drink well early, relative to other vintages any way. 93-94
From a plot close to Meursault village. Full nose with melons and green apple. Nice volume in the mouth with plenty of cut and lift. Mineral driven. Very good value for Bourgogne. 87-88
Full nose here as well with melon, apple, florals and mineral. Round and mouthfilling with light-to-moderate concentration. Nice lemon-lime zesty finish. Another very good value. 88-89
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Nose is a bit more brooding and dense here as we move up the quality ladder. Quality is clear on the palate with a great combo of concentration and crunchy/juicy acidity. Long finish with stony apple and mineral. 91-92
