    The wine shows medium intensity of ripe green apple, pear, floral with some candied fruit notes in the nose. The palate shows candied fruit again, pear, apple, citrus, tropical fruit, medium to high acidity, crunchy fruit and slightly bitter, med to long finish 88+

    Candied fruit, slight pharmaceutical notes, the palate is lighter, easier, shows more fruit, again herbal notes, medium finish, medium acidity, balanced altogether. The wine needs some time in the glass.

    The colour is deeper, herbal notes, candied fruit, candied citrus, tropical notes with some medicinal notes at the end.
    The palate shows strength, candied fruit, herbal notes, medium body, high acidity, medium finish. The wine is still very fresh

    More expressive in the nose, green freshness, citrus and some tropical fruit, altogether the aroma is very inviting. The palate is smooth, rich, elegant, herbal, candied citrus, well balanced with the residual sugar, long finish.

    Very pale color, beautiful in the nose, bright red cherry, notes, fragrant and just ethereal, floral with toasted notes.
    The fruit is beautiful, smooth tannins for such a young wine, olives, tomato, fragrant, elegant, delicate, high acidity, with long finish.
    Outstanding quality, very young, would be beautiful

    This comes from pure Silex soil
    Beautiful tensity in the nose, flinty, chalky, ripe citrus, candied, preserved lemon and tropical fruit, dense, oak notes, layers upon layers of notes. The palate is sensational, the same profile flavorwise, more oaky than the nose, flinty, nutty, lime, citrus, med acidity, med body. Outstanding quality, long finish, grippy, preserved fruit.

    This is a blend of Malagouzia, Assyrtiko and Roditis, 12 months in new, old and very old oak barrels with no topping up.
    Very intriguing in the nose, ripe and fresh together, dense in the colour as well, almost like a chenin blanc.
    The palate shows the same profile, citrus, lemon, slightly oxidative notes, candied fruit, preserved lemon, nutty, almond, high acidity, a bit thin, medium to long finish. Weird but interesting

    Low to medium intensity in the nose, developing profile, red notes, fragrant, floral, spicy notes, thin oak layers, like a Christmas cake.
    In the palate, the wine shows medium body and acidity, med to full body, big drying tannins, medium finish. Feels astringent and a bit hard to drink on its own for me now.

    Very light color. The nose shows lightness too, fragrant, red cherry notes, light oak and spice notes.
    In the palate, the wine is smooth, easy and toasted, nutty, fruit in the back, medium acidity, a bit of heat, medium finish.
    I am not sure about this one, it just feels strange. Almost like a someone was trying to make something up rather than take the fruit and work with it.

    Rather light for a Nychteri, ripe citrus, lime, lemon, candied, citrus, yeast and nutty. The palate is big, fruit, sweet, high acidity, nutty, candied fruit and preserved lemon. Full body, very salty with a long finish, very young and a bit aggressive at the moment.

    Italy, Sicily, Terre Siciliane

    This is pure Chardonnay from 18yo vines, sourced from 4ha vineyards of 850-1000m altitude, density 12300 plants/ha, 40% of mass maceration in steel, 10 months in oak and cement, 25000 total bottle production
    The colour is rich deep straw.
    The nose shows medium intensity, ripe peach and citrus fruit with some floral notes as well. There are tropical fruits to be found here inside a thin oak frame and a few mineral and salty elements.
    The palate is rich, salty, mineral, clean and bright, with tropical fruit, citrus, lemon (fruit and peel), full body, medium to high acidity, medium to long finish.
    Outstanding quality, very well balanced, could pass for a Santorini.

    This is a pure Nerello Mascalese from 90-110yo vines, sourced from the Malpasso, Guardiola, Santo Spirito, Favazza, Porcaria contradas, the altitude is 500-1000m, the density is 8000 plants/ha, 15 days maceration in steel tanks, 18 months in 25hl oak, 5-6 months in cement, the wine undergoes malolaction, bottled without filtration, total production 60000 bottles.
    The wine shows bright red colour.
    The nose shows medium intensity, candied cinnamon, ripe red fruits, earthy and spicy, a bit of nutty and smoke notes, almost like a Christmas cake, some vegetal notes at the end.
    In the palate, the wine shows intensity, a lot of red cherries and currants, floral notes, high acidity, 14.5% alcohol, flinty, smooth tannins, oak notes, the fruit is very bright, cinnamon candy, mineral, elegant, a few bitter notes in the medium finish.

    The wine has a pale red color.
    The wine shows beautiful and fragrant nose, fruit and floral elements, cinnamon candy, cherry and currant, elegant and a bit decadent.
    The wine is beautiful in the palate even though its still very young, fruit, with nice tannins, medium acidity, high tannins, green freshness, very young altogether, long finish. This is will grow up nicely. Its interesting when a wine is so elegant and unforgiving in the same time.

  • 2017 Passopisciaro Sicilia Contrada Chiappemacine 90 Points

    This is a pure Nerello Mascalese from 90yo vines, sourced from the Chiappemacine contrada which is on the edge of the lava flow, the soil is sandstone, the altitude is 550m, 1.2ha, the density is 8000 plants/ha, 15 days maceration in steel tanks, 18 months in 25hl oak, 5-6 months in cement, the wine undergoes malolaction, bottled without filtration, total production 3000 bottles.
    The wine shows pale red colour.
    The nose shows light intensity, with more red fruits and floral notes, very elegant and light profile.
    In the palate, the wine shows the same profile but with a flinty/mineral core and grippy tannins, medium to high acidity and medium finish.
    Very different from the Guardiola

  • 2017 Passopisciaro Terre Siciliane Contrada Rampante 92 Points

    This is a pure Nerello Mascalese from 110yo vines, sourced from the Rampante contrada the soil is volcanic ash, the altitude is 1000-1100m, 1.4ha, the density is 8000 plants/ha, 15 days maceration in steel tanks, 18 months in 25hl oak, 5-6 months in cement, the wine undergoes malolaction, bottled without filtration, total production 2000 bottles.
    The wine has a pale red colour but a bit more concentrated than the others.
    Very concentrated in the nose, shows high intensity of ripe red cherries and currants, violet floral notes, mineral notes again with cinnamon candy spice notes.
    In the palate, the wine shows mineral profile again, ripe currants, powerful tannins, spices, aggressive steely tannins, very dry, impossible to drink now, needs years to open. It is of outstanding quality though and wine of the tasting for me.
