France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
Nose of mild barnyard, black cherry, raspberry, and earth, same on the palate, big body, tasty, at peak, lovely fruit, mouth filling fruit, paired with roasted chicken, went well together, long finish.
From a $57 auction magnum opened Christmas Eve and placed in the refrigerator for the next day, nose of slate, chalk, brioche, and sea salt, same on the palate, big body, rich, lovely, crisp, refreshing, lovely mousse of tiny bubbles, hint of honey on finish and aftertaste, paired with Wild Sockeye Smoked Salmon and delicious together.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Medium dark red color, opened bright acid and red cherry fruit with hints of red rasberrys on the nose, more of the same on the palate with hints of bret, sour cherry cough drops, and burnt bacon, lovely rich mouthfeel. medium finish, should improve for 3 to 5 years. Well worth the $35 spent for a premier cru.
