  • Nose: mature strawberry, spices, dark chocolate, rose petals, orange rind, red fruits, cherry
Notes: quite an experience drinking this from a Jeroboam, a very beautiful nose of mature strawberries upon opening and slowly moved on to other typical Vosne nose such as rose petals, orange rind and a bit of red fruits. The wine is medium bodied and has quite an attractive aroma with plenty of spices in it. It is still quite energetic after opening for 2-3 hours and I would anticipate that this wine can live on for at least another 10 years without much problem. One thing I must note about the Domaine is the fact that its work from the late 90s and early 00s has consistently impressed me in terms of its energy level and longevity. I rarely would say this to a particular Domaine but I am rarely disappointed with their wines even if it's coming from not so brilliant vintages. I've had many good experiences with 01s of Mongeard Mugneret and today's encounter with the Petit Monts reassured my belief in the aged wines of this Domaine. I think it will be safe for one to snatch all available 2001 1er Cru of above wines from this Domaine and it shouldn't disappoint.

  • Christmas Day 2012 (Walnut Creek, Ca.): Medium dark red color, opened bright acid and red cherry fruit with hints of red rasberrys on the nose, more of the same on the palate with hints of bret, sour cherry cough drops, and burnt bacon, lovely rich mouthfeel. medium finish, should improve for 3 to 5 years. Well worth the $35 spent for a premier cru.

  • Candy acidity in the bouquet. Juicy and fruity taste, mainly raspberry acidity. Medium long aftertaste.
