This was another big milestone getting the Heidi's Gang back together after a 15 month layoff. Six of us ((KB, SS, CV, DD, BE, JS) gathered at the Kenwood to enjoy some splendid wines and savor the offerings of "new" chef/owner Joel DiBilzan. The Kenwood has been a staple over the years and the transition from Don to Joel looks to be a seamless transition much to everyone's delight. All of the wines tonight drank with well with both notable whites and reds. Thanks to everyone for sharing some spectacular wines!
2008 Champagne Pierre Legras Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs "Idée de Voyage" 92 Points
France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
Light gold color. Drank a glass over an hour plus. I thought this was drinking really well tonight. First bottle I've had and it bodes well. Sea air, toast, apple, bread dough, stone on the nose. The palate has tons of dry extract and clean chalk driven minerality. 92+(+)pts.

1996 Salon Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut 95 Points
France, Champagne
Medium plus deep golden color. Drank a glass over an hour. When someone says that a Champagne is vinous, this what they mean. Ripe golden apple and pear, wet stones, round yet crisp, voluminous on the palate with layer uppn layer of density and minerality. Very elegant for the depth and intensity. Showing more maturity and some oxidative charater; there's lots of lemon oil and almond extract on the long mineral laden finish.
