France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Beautiful fruit, crushed stone, spicy and meaty. Crazy perfume. Lots of substances here, immensely delicate but powerful, a wine I keep coming back to and like more than others. 94-95
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Montrachet Grand Cru
Somewhat green and muted nose. Grassy, crushed yellow fruit, sweet vanilla after air. Acidic and spicy on the palate, huge structure, so precise, so mellow. Forever lingering finish, what a Montrachet. 95+
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin Grand Cru
Crazy old Burgundy aromatics, rose petal, blue fruit, spicy, tea, smoky. So clean and pure, the sweet palate in perfect harmony with pronounced vintage acidity. Alive and kicking! 93-94
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru
Ageless. Fruit-driven, woody but so clean, Asian spice, tea, minerality, composed and inviting. Class and purity filtered through time. Not as sensational as the 64 but a great bottle of wine in its own right. 94-95
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Something Roumier did in this vintage, what a perfumed nose. Pure, classy and substantial. Palate is not too much bigger than the 09 Chambolle drank earlier, if slightly longer. 93
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
01739. Light reduction, still some baby fat, good balance, but nothing extraordinary here (which is not the case with 12/13 recently tasted). Not a lot of layers or intensity on the palate. Nothing notably off, either. 93-94
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
000474. Missing the signature reduction. Quite sweet without enough acidity, backbone, nuances or raciness of this wine. Balance is good, however. Doubt this is a representative bottle. 93-94
01573 (original release?). More Coche than the two bottles of CC. Super gunflint, bursting with nuclear level of concentration power. Razor sharp and clean. Bang, so intense, this is Coche! 93-94
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
Next to 90. Had this wine a few times and it is what it is... not intense or sharp, good acidity, decently delicious but not a go-to vintage for this wine. 93
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
00004/290. First vintage? Classy red fruit, pure acidity, some meaty character, balanced and delicious but not too intense. Understandable, not the sweet profile generally of this vintage. 93
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Very very different from the 2001 Echezeaux which had such a (Jayer-like) ethereal vanilla profile. This is more toned, sharp red fruit, more acidity-driven, classy on the palate but neither intense or bold. 93-94
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Magnum 24/72. Evidently more weight than the 01 Chaumes, more lacy, concentrated, and very spicy. To me it misses the cherry on top in terms of the in-your-face intensity of the terroir; good but not great. 93
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, La Tâche Grand Cru
03882/24867. Spice wonderland simply off the charts, the most Vosne of the entire lineup. Good, this bottle is entering its drinking window (finally!). Unorthodox but hedonistic characters of this vintage always deliver. 95
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru
/16424, next to 01 GE. Quite muted when served and took some time to open. Does not have the clarity I remembered (one of my favorite vintages of Echezeaux chez Domaine), but pretty and understated. Purple fruit and spice. 93
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru
00343/13134. This vintage chez Domaine is always so juicy and showy. Sheer balance and personality holding the ripe fruit and boldness in check. So much going on the moment it touches your palate. Hedonistic. 94.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru
13834/17325, next to 14 GE. Glossy, pretty but light. I have yet to have a E better than GE especially served together. Somehow there was still almost half of the bottle left at the end of the night; I certainly enjoyed it! 93
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru
03007/13976. One of my favorite wines of the vintage, a little shy today. Beautiful fruit, lacy, broad and highly aromatic in compensation for the slight lack of depth, which will surely improve with bottle age. 93+
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru
04104/13971, next to 17 RSV. Bodied and structured with great perfume, greeness is not disturbing if even welcomed. Quite good until the 17 smashed it out of the door... very accomplished in context of the vintage, however. 93-94
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru
03885/20318, next to 11 RSV. Once in a while DRC makes an amazing RSV, and this is it. The essence is capturing all the floral aromatics but at the perfect balance between intensity and etherealness. So much going on here, racy, pure, transparent with an intoxicating nose. I was really enjoying the 2011 a lot until this came around. 95
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Richard concluded "like putting vegetables in your freezer for a week" - cool, hay, vegetal, past its prime. But fun to open something like this to finish a great night.
This was poured into a glass but I forgot to drink. Had a lot of great 09s today (Roumier Chambolle, Ruchottes, Mugnier NSG) and all of them had crazy perfumes. I would expect no less from GMG; a reminder for myself to drink this wine again!

1997 Domaine Dujac Clos St. Denis 93 Points
