Small glass. Late 1990s disgorgement. Fully mature apple with toasted rye bread. Very good depth with good length.

2019 Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet 93 Points

Small glass. Rich stone fruit with some tropical hints, all with a touch of baby fat that still needs to fade, but very good depth and length. Better from 2026.

Small glass. Surprisingly fresh for its age and the '98 vintage. Lean styled orchard fruit with good density and weight, supported with spice and floral notes.

2013 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières 93 Points

Tasted twice, both small tastes. From 3L that had been opened 6-8 hours before dinner. First taste was very good with the richness of the best harmonized 2013s combined sweet and tart, plus typical PYCM richness. More Meursault Perrieres minerality and nuttiness emerged when re-tasted a few hours later. Give this air.

Small glass. Tart lemon on nose and palate, clearly lean with some fresh and dried herb notes. Tense and bright, this was even concentration to have retained plenty of fruit along with its structure, and seems at a perfect place right now.

Color darkened quickly in glass. Aromas were fully mature+, giving lots of concern. Palate was slightly fresher, but showed good concentration, even if clearly more earth than remaining fruit.

Small glass from magnum. Lean lemon and apple with a floral start, nearly seeming bitter in the middle, but not in a bad way. No botrytis here. Very good now, but this should continue to drink well for another decade+.

Small glass. My first time tasting from tis vintage, and I was surprised to find it to be the ripest Rayas I have ever tasted. Very densely packed with so much flavor, but less of the perfect harmony and balance I typically associate with this wine. Certainly very good, but not a vintage I would own.

Small glass. Earth and lean red fruit in good combination, helped by age bringing out a faint madeirization that adds richness and nuance. I doubt this was better when young, but it is certainly interesting and enjoyable now. This is something you don't see every day!

Small glass. Ripe and mature combination of red, black and blue berries. This comes across as fairly powerful and meaty, certainly enjoyable even if not classically "Chambolle" to me. I am told this used to be part of the current Groffier holdings, and the grapes/ wine now goes to Ben Leroux.

Small glass. Dense combination of fresh and mature black fruits with an intense meaty, gamy character. Lots here, all working well together. Trapet 1988s certainly took a long time, but they have reached a wonderful place (if well stored).

Small glass from magnum. Plenty of red and black berries with faint meatiness. Bright Chambolle textures are more than offset for now by robust tannins, giving this a backward character. Very good potential, but needs more time, particularly from this larger format.

Bottle had been in Burgundy for its entire life and was in near perfect condition (ullage < 2cm). All red fruit, both fresh and aged with forest floor and sweet spice notes. Wonderfully fresh for its age/ level. Lots here.

Musty cork once the cork was finally extracted, but this brightened up quickly showing fully mature red cherry and berry with black truffle and earth. Some dried rose petal emerged after a few more minutes before this started slowly fading. Lots here to enjoy.
