served about 3 hours after opening. Good ripeness here but the wine wasn't really sweet on the palate. Acidity was still here, but the wine was just more mature. Classic petrol on the nose. Drinking pretty well.

Assorted riesling at D Cuisine (Chicago, IL): Showing kind of flat and not as exciting as my previous experiences with this wine. It got better with air, but the nose was a little unclean and showing a lot of earthy elements. The weight is correct but the palate's complexity just isn't there either. Far overshadowed by the brilliant 1990 CFE VT.

Last of 6, pnp, stained cork but perfect level, better showing than last bottle in 2017, old gold colour but very much alive and most layered yet, even a strong whiff of youthful kerosene, at last I found the right food match (pork in a rich piquant sauce), where the weight and slight sweetness worked well, downside from here but no rush. F (17.5).......my reservations remain, not so much on the inherent quality of the wine, but on the style and knowing when to drink it as it really does not work with most food pairings, and it's too big and dare I say clumsy to work by itself as an aperitif, give me a decent Mosel any day!

Tasted blind, this wine had a gold center and clear rims. It was somewhere in between a Sauterne and a Spatlese. Not super heavy with botrytis, it was rich with firm acidity.
While certainly interesting and enjoyable, I did not find enough complexity here to get me excited. I don't think this will be getting any better so drink ASAP.
