Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
Walk around tasting. All red cherry with floral and spice notes. Tannins aren't overwhelming, but this is clearly still brooding, even with its good substance. Give this to 2035-.
Walkaround tasting. Fun, balanced and easy to enjoy right now, but with power and density emerging in the middle. Good length, too. Tasty already now, with the easy ability to drink well for a decade.
Walkaround tasting. Classically styled Barolo, but structure dominates today, so this is particularly backward. At the same time, there is plenty of depth, so this will reward the very patient.
Walkaround tasting. Rich with (almost) a sense of good balance coming soon. Classic flavor and aromatic profile, all nearly accessible. Good length. Good from 2026-2046.
Walkaround tasting. Plenty of red cherry with savory spice. Long and expanding finish with a firm, backward character right now. Good depth, better from 2030 forward.
South Africa, Coastal Region, Cape Peninsula, Constantia
Walkaround tasting. Spiced apricot with candied ginger and some black tea. So much depth, so much here, this is built for the long haul. Many plots harvested over three months with multiple passes and multiple (10+?) fermentations.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Walkaround tasting. Lots of green and yellow apple with some pear. Big and rounded start, slightly tart in the middle for now, this needs a few years to settle down. Very long finish. I like the 92-94 point potential here, better 2026 forward.
Walkaround tasting. I typically enjoy this Cuvée more, but found it presently on the tart side for the vintage. Big and dense, but I'm wondering if this just needs more time to harmonize.
France, Burgundy, Mâconnais, Pouilly-Fuissé Premier Cru
Walkaround tasting. On the other hand, this "le Clos" is hitting its mark spot on. Floral start with a wonderful richness balanced with so much energy. Spicy, charming, and elegant now, with lots of upside, 92-93 points.
Walkaround tasting. The vintage before receiving 1er cru status. Rich and mouthcoating, this has plenty of structure and plenty of depth. Nothing opulent here, but lots of Macon character with very good potential.
Walkaround tasting. Ripe red and black cherry throughout, floral and spiced. This is very pretty right now, even if more "2019" than "Volnay," but that will emerge with cellar time. Good weight.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
Walkaround tasting. Big and muscular with good balance, this manages to be accessible already. Not yet quite Grand Cru density coming across... hopefully with time.
