Introduction

Zoom wine dinner with Christophe Perrot-Minot, comparing 6 pairs of the two acclaimed Grands Crus of the same vintages.

  • 2016 Domaine Perrot-Minot Chambertin 95 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin Grand Cru

    (A) Slightly funky notes to be begin with. Opens up nicely to show meaty notes along with red cherries, earth, spices and tea leaves. The palate was clean, smooth and soft with great concentration and minerality. An abundance of racy red fruit offered a good lift and sappiness to the wine. The finish was lingering. Not sure how this '16 would age, but it was drinking beautifully and my wine of the night.

  • 2016 Domaine Perrot-Minot Chambertin-Clos de Bèze 93 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru

    (A) Some herbaceous notes to the nose along with red fruit and spices. Smooth and tender, with good concentration and a slightly riper fruit profile than the Chambertin.

Closing

Christophe thought his Clos de Beze was the more feminine wine of the two.
I personally found his Chambertin racier and more mineral and his Clos de Beze spicer.
