From a bottle opened the day before. A relatively light touch to a wine that would otherwise display lots of ripeness and heaviness. The fruit is perfumed and red, and there is a tarry note here, but otherwise everything about this is balanced and elegant. Slightly high-toned with some candied fruit elements.
Very botrytis-heavy, with a slight petrol note but far more honeyed floral tones on the nose. The palate is dense and oily but fully dry, and shows mature spice notes as well as more of the aforementioned botrytis qualities.
My first bottle of this showed substantially similar, but for the TCA. This bottle was clean. A brilliant iteration of this cuvée of which I admittedly have not always been a big proponent. But this has like zest, a dense mineral core, and plenty of stony minerality throughout. Nevertheless full and complete on the palate too.

Mature white Burgundy. Not convinced there's much upside here given how well this is showing already. Modest fruit notes, but a plush, rounded palate with plenty of oily thickness (that the vintage often features). Nevertheless lots of counterbalancing acidity. The overall palate feels mature, but the acidity does give this freshness. Nevertheless, I'd be inclined to drink up.
#26-12, 9% abv. Go figure -- a different AP number than I had previously. I didn't actually know that Dönnhoff even did that. Anyway, this was kind of flabby and sweet initially, and not particularly interesting, and it took a few hours of air and chill to tighten up the wine and make it tighten up and show more acidity and mineral core. Not a great iteration of this wine, but a pretty solid one all the same.
Disgorged July 13, 2021, vendanges 2016/2017. Relatively lean, but clean and not funky like meunier can get. Minerally, bright, and high acid. Not too complex, but very drinkable and enjoyable, especially for a grower, brut nature champagne.
Absolutely outstanding, and definitely at some sort of peak right now. This shows no sign at all of the overripeness of the vintage -- just a good amount of dark fruit. Meaty and sweaty as good Rioja ought to be but with a relative lightness that makes this readily drinkable. Wonderful "entry-level" stuff.
