France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
Open 5 hours, 3 in decanter. So much powerful and spiced black fruit start-to-finish with enough elegant textures to make this even more engaging. Very good now.
Open 6 hours, 2 in decanter. Rocha nd ripe with enchanting aromas. Firm and dense on the palate that isn’t quite as accessible but giving a clear sense of its future glory, 2035-.
Open 6+ hours, mostly on decanter. Polished and charming with fun black fruits. Maybe less classically Hermitage to me, but maybe that just means I don’t enjoy it as much as I do Chave.
Open 3 hours, splash decant. Layered and complex for the first sniff. Red and black cherry with roasted meat, olive tapenade, and Indian curry spices. So well balanced, great length. Upside from here.
Tasty apricot with very good richness, but this is a wine that doesn’t work well with either savory or sweet foods, so difficult for me to often enjoy.

Rich with very good depth, but dark color and more fully mature than I would want at this age.

Surprisingly lively and vibrant with plenty of ripe stone/orchard fruit still seeming fresh.

Very Pinot-centric with soft, rounded textures and edges. Good depth culminating in a long-ish elegant finish.

Opened and decanted for 2 hours. Red cherry nose and palate with some jagged edges. Not perfectly pristine.

Open 6 hours, not decanted. Still firm but tasty, not as exciting as Baron.

Fun and balanced black fruited wine that is completely accessible, but lacking in the concentration and heft of the great wines in this flight.

I will be kind and say this isn’t flawed despite the volatile aromas. Ultra ripe, lacking a harmonious core, and too warm a finish.

Open 4 hours, 1 in decanter, lots of sediment. Powerful black fruits, meaty and tannic, yet easily balanced. Very long finish. Great now with upside.

Caramel and toffee notes. I adored this wine when last tasted (over a decade ago), but tonight’s bottle was flat and uninspiring.
