Nice bouquet. The attack felt a bit jammy. Better mid palette and slightly vegetative finish with notes of green olives. Alcohol is noticeable.

Showing a lot of wood on the nose. Stewed plums. Medium concentration. Firm tannins.

Ok nose but a bit shy. On the attack, a bit like cough medicine. Medium concentration with distant notes of coffee. Overall a nicely balanced wine, but I could not find anything special or exciting here. Did not find any "justification" to purchase it.

Impressive nose after it was decanted for several hours. Decent complexity. Firm concentration. Very well put together. Persistent. Excellent balance. Nice tannins

What this wine lacks in power and concentration, it makes up in the nose. The bouquet is rustic, unique, and evocative of the country. The palette, however, is a bit thin. Overall, it is ready to enjoy right now

Weak on the nose. What this wine lacks on the nose, it makes up on the palette. Soft tannins and ready to drink now. Great QPR. A tad green on the finish.

Decent nose with hints of spices. Firm concentration for the price and soft tannins. A bit hot on the alcohol. Overall good wine, but I was expecting more from this particular vintage of Napanook.

Nice nose. On the palette stewed plums and ripe berries. Well-balance and firm concentration. Only thing missing here is complexity.

Nice notes on the nose that clearly show the 22 months this wine spent on oak. At the moment the wine is not together at all. Rather disjoint. Firm concentration and firm tannins. Persistent finish. It has a potential for higher score in the future if it comes together.

After a couple of hours of decanting it showed a fantastic nose with notes of spice, perfume, red fruits and very slight mineral notes. Very well put together. Sweet silky tannins. A bit of stewed plums. Great structure. Good value for <$50 category

2007 is one of the best vintages in California and this wine shows it. The nose is powerful. Notes of vanilla and caramel without being jammy. Silky smooth mouth feel. Power house in concentration. Awesome balance. This is a great value ~$50 price category. It reminds me of the question: Why pay less?

Just a tad hot on the nose. On the palette the wine is oh so smooth with excellently concealed tannins. I was expecting more concentration from this wine. Persistent. Broccoli on the finish.

Nose of perfume and country side. Good concentration and firm tannins. Persistent. Lacks complexity a bit and most certainly is not ready to drink now.

A powerhouse on the nose showing a lot of vanilla notes at the moment. Ripe fruit and firm tannins. The wine shows a bit the alcohol on the finish. Another wine with good potential for higher score if it comes together.

A powerhouse on the nose: complex perfume, hypnotic, Asian spices. Outstanding concentration. Starts with stewed plums and evolves to show flavors of ripe fruits. What I really like about this wine is that it was showing his layers, one at a time. It does not put all of what it has upfront. Great complexity. Outstanding balance.

I am a bit generous on the rating of this wine. Most likely an 89+. A lot of vanilla on the nose. Very firm tannins. Way too early to drink at the moment. Tasted on opening / release day and it shows that the wine is quite disjoint. Decent concentration. Notes of green pepper and tomato juice on the finish.

Considering everything... the wines to purchase from this tasting were the Newton 2005 and the Caymus 2007.

'Egret'. A bit shy on the nose. Oak and caramel. Nice length for this price range. A bit sour with slight green finish.
