4/21/2024 - sean20waldo Likes this wine: 90 pointsVery light colour, savoury nose. Slight underripe tones but an elegant style of old school burgundy. Not without power and good acidity so will likely last for many years to go |

4/13/2024 - amenges Likes this wine: 90 pointsOpened about 2 hours before dinner. Still relatively tight when we sat down for dinner. However the tannins did melt away with more of the fat in the fish and sauce. |

4/2/2024 - liber Likes this wine: 93 points1st of 12, opened an hour then decanted 30 minutes, perfect cork and level - dark but transparent ruby, little development; cherry, touch of cranberry, slightly sour and mineral edge, pure, fresh and reasonably complex; medium bodied, long, notably persistent, bright fruit, fine balance and grip, slightly simple as yet with unresolved fine tannin apparent on exit, adolescent but drinking, much upside, 20+ years. F+ (18) for now........nice to get an Angerville wine that is actually a good drink as they take an age to come round often going in and out of sulky phases (eg 95, 98 and 99); the 03 is probably to be preferred for current drinking but I suspect this will have the edge when fully mature in say 10 years and the Lord only knows when the 05s will be ready! |

3/25/2024 - thesternowl wrote: 93 pointsBrought to a dinner with some guests visiting from Piemonte. The 2008 “Taillepieds” pours a deep ruby with a translucent core; medium viscosity with no obvious staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with tart and slightly underripe strawberry, cherry, mushrooms, red flowers, varnish (yeah, there’s some VA) stony earth and delicate baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin, medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The body is fit and the finish is long and full of energy. This is a really attractive beauty; the sort that you might feel compelled to apologize to for gawking. And, while I found this to be really tasty at nearly 16 years of age, it clearly has a long way to go. Drink now through 2033+. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

3/31/2024 - LucasTijn Likes this wine: 94 pointsMy first bottle from this producer, after having heard many good things. This wine was terrific, surely among the best Volnay I've had. A very refined and classic Volnay. Flower petals, dung fertilizer, oak, squashed forest berries, cranberry juice, moss, green tea, raspberry cordial, white pepper and a hint of cola. The palate is fine, extremely silky, elegant and balanced. Potentially even higher rating in the future, as this is still clearly very young. |

3/19/2024 - Burgundy Al wrote: 93 pointsPommard & Volnay tout en nuances - Grands Jours de Bourgogne (Palais des Congrès - Beaune): Walkaround tasting with producers. Almost 90 yo vines. Rich and fleshy black and red berries bring powerful fruit aromas and flavors, supported with sweet spice and robust tannins. Not the most integrated wine in the lineup, but certainly the most exciting. A wine to cellar for a decade+. |

3/26/2024 - liber Likes this wine: 92 points7th of 12, opened an hour then decanted 30 minutes, perfect level, cork pulled through and crumbled to dust though clean, improving trajectory noted in December, even a hint of elegance and silk in this former thug and showing characteristics more of Taillepieds and less of more muscular Santenots, in danger of an upgrade, balance for 12+ years. At least F (17.5). |

3/22/2024 - eboracum Likes this wine: 91 pointsLuckily this turned out to be a good bottle. It was surprisingly fresh for its 31 years with a linear shape, a bit shy in aromas but well focussed with still some primary griotte cherry fruit, fine minerals, some underlying roundness and complexity, bright acidity and and decent firmness on the finish. I can see what the late Hubert de Montille's admirers mean by diamond like focus but I prefer more sensuality and graciousness in Burgundy. But this bottle, but not its predecessor, was very good though. |

3/23/2024 - Keith Levenberg Likes this wine: 88 pointsSolid and robust, which feels right for Taillepieds. There is a little prickle from gas, which needs to be shaken out, and from the tannins, which are otherwise packed and tight grained. The fruit is full and violet-shaded. A little more personality would be nice but for the value pricing you can afford to put some away and bet on it emerging later on. |

3/8/2024 - drwine2001 wrote: NRRuby with little clearing. Slight funk on the nose which made me wonder at first whether it was corked, but it was not. Licorice and some pepperiness on the nose. Medium weight, very deep black cherry, soil, great acidity and salinity, and ripe tannins. This has matured and fleshed out beautifully. Well worth the wait and just at the beginning of its drinking window. Outstanding Volnay. |

3/7/2024 - SARED wrote: 93 pointsVery pure fruited and transformed in the glass. On open it was crunchy strawberry and red raspberry, with air it picked up violets, black cherry and black raspberry. Extremely primary, vivid fruit. Very clean and pure. Reminds me of what Oregon pinot could be, if it was made in Burgundy (this vivid fruit also has spice, slightly more concentration and ?layers? you don’t find in Oregon). There is value in Beaune. |

Silky body with slightly dark and sweet fruit like maraschino cherry. Surprisingly lively acid on the long finish, maybe a little too much for me. Also just a smidge of oak which for me also is too much. Very nice even if it doesn’t fully hit the bullseye for my taste. |

2/17/2024 - pclin wrote: 93 pointsPnP. Clean floral nose. Tough tannins of the vintage mostly softened. Vibrant acidity to keep it really lively, very enjoyable bottle, probably the best showing from the case. Pure and silky with some dark soils lurking underneath, very Volny and very Angerville. I often wonder if ‘98 could turn out to be like ‘93 once those stubborn tannins turned the corner. This bottle was showing all the possibilities. |
