11/30/2012 - RATER Likes this wine: NR

Very good wine one third of the time, despite the 3-1 bottle variation (per case)!
After tasting and enjoying this wine at EL PORRON, NYC, back in April this year, we went ahead to get a case. However, there is clearly a bottle variation here…good thing it is not an expensive wine, but the ratio seems to be at 3-1, which in the end costs us a great deal to finally enjoy a good bottle within our case. I have to say, even the other ones are not bad, but the ones that taste better are so far distant in terms of quality. For Instance, 1/3 of a case (in our case) can be qualified as very good, while the other 2/3 are just above average; but not bad though.

Incredibly very good wine now, with great potential!
I came across this one last month, in particular the 2007 vintage, and got ¾ of a case. This was our four bottle so far my wife and I enjoy. Not to replicate my previous note on this, but I could only add that we are very pleased with it: neat appearance, enticing nose, bold enough structure, harmonious balance, and an elegant taste and after taste; at an unquestionable price. Definitely recommended! We only regret not have gotten more on this…five more bottles to go, though.

Good and approachable wine!
Definitely more fruit than the last two vintages. Despite it shows a good balance, it lacks a little bit of character. Remarkable for a young wine under $12 and from CA. I personally enjoyed it, since they did not over oak it this time. This wine has some potential and it would not disappoint. My score is 85.

Beautiful California Cab, is it the vintage or what?
Outstanding quality at its price, that very well could be sold at $25-$30 range.
As many have mentioned, this wine has potential both in the bottle and after opened.

Surprisingly good; loved 2005, disappointed with 2006, and the 2007 not only exceeded my expectations, but my prior experiences with this wine!
Voluptuous and elegant plumy-dark-violet color; with a bouquet of dark berries, also showing hints of sweet spices with a combination of toasty oak, vanilla and dark chocolate aromas; on the palate a predominant ripe fruit forward flavor, following with an enticing acidity, ending with round, velvety and concentrated tannins. It also shows a mid-body with a gentle and competitive character. A well developed wine at an affordable price, ready to please any crowd.

We enjoyed 2 bottles of this (always) wonderful wine for my wife’s Birthday, with the rest of the family, on Friday May 7th.
Once again, an impressive wine of extraordinary quality! It shows an intense violet color with an alike density; its dynamic nose impregnate your senses with an array of elements including: dark berries, chocolate, toasty oak, tobacco, vanilla, species and minerals as well; its versatile and harmonious taste and distinguish character makes you enjoy this wine more every sip. I am super fan of this wine, believing that a Napa wine of this quality would sell at $80 - $100 rate. This wines retails at an excellent QPR of $30 - $45.

My best ever wine experience, so far!
The first time that I was actually ever to taste in a wine what I had previously sensed on the nose; WOW! This has an aromatic and explosive nose, with a succulent, silky and delicious taste; extremely well made wine with a unique complexity and unforgettable structure. The finish was the longest I ever experienced in a wine…what a way to end a year and start a new one.

Also, the first time I really, really agree with the price point of a high rated wine: even the price of this wine is outstanding!

We tend to equate quality with price, which most of the time does not apply. This wine though really stands to that. How many of us have tasted higher priced wines that only disappoint, that is not the case here. I am definitely sure my notes here will resonate with you, if you happen to come across this wine. Just outstanding!

Delicious and Elegant!
More concentrated and fuller body than ’05 & ’06; showing an appealing and much darker burgundy color, with hints of red berries and mineral as well as sweet spices for a aromatic nose. On the palate, despite young, delivering round and harmonious tannins including ripe red berries, minerals and sweet species; ending with a mid-short but firm and elegant taste. Fair QPR ($26) and a lot of room for improvement with cellaring time, I will hold my second bottle for at least a year, to prove this right…

Mistakenly, someone create a wine a duplicate of the "Marques de Casa, Concha Toro Cabernet Sauvignon" including the Frontera name to it.

FRONTERA, is a totally different wine. Yes from Concha Toro, but a lower quality one.

An impressive nose!
WOW, what an explosive and enticing bouquet this wine has. My wife and I were both impressed by its array of fruit aromas right after we pop this wine. It also shows a good young dark burgundy color with a medium body and a delicate and fruit-forward, but not so complex taste, which ends with a short but attracting finish. Also, base on the nose we expected more character, well enough anyhow. (We did not get the heat from the 15.5 alcohol level.)

We have to disagree with most tasters of this wine here, we enjoyed and got more out of just pop and pour this one. We tasted the day after and it was a bit on the oxidation side. Then, to us this shows not a long life; enjoy this very good value and well made wine, NOW!

Can’t go wrong with this!
Dark burgundy color with a mid-hi density, showing an aromatic bouquet mostly on the dark berries side with a fruit forward taste with solid tannins. It also shows a bold character and a harmonious balance with a great potential to age for at least five more years; elegant finish. I just got a case at less than $19 a bottle, don’t miss it; fairly priced even at $20: good QPR.

Consistently good!
There seems to be some bottle variation but on the good side. Last night we open another bottle of this wine which tasted more like the “reserve”. It shows a solid plum color, with an elegant viscosity; on the nose dark berries, mostly plum and blueberries with a hint of leather and tobacco; on the palate a balanced and concentrated taste with a midrange velvety finish.

This wine definitely will mature to become a jewel with at least a couple of years of cellaring time. In particularly, this bottle was splendid…we still have ½ a case and just ordered another case for an average price of $18.45 a bottle. To be honest, I never bought so much of the same wine at one time. But I did not want to miss the opportunity to continue to enjoy this wonderful wine….

Giggs' review is right on!

However, I continue to insist there is bottle variation on this wine and vintage. The bottle my wife and I enjoyed on May 31st, was a superior one from 2 cases we got last month. All and all, a very well made, satisfying, and affordable wine right now; look forward to our next 12 bottles....

Definitely much better than its counterpart from Sonoma County!
It delivers now an interesting taste, but extra oaky though. I feel tempted to categorize this good value, but it lacks just a bit of character to make it there. All and all, it shows a nice dark burgundy color and solid appearance, with a shy nose that ends shortly and mostly oaky. This might improve with time, but just a notch.
