  • Decanted for 1 hour and served with grilled burgers. Blackish red color (looks younger than an '07). Cassis, blackberry, menthol, tobacco on nose. On palate, medium body, great balance (fruit / acid / tannin) with black cherry, blackberry tobacco flavor profile. Medium+ finish. To me, one of the better QPR wines in Napa. Need to buy this from a more recent (strong vintage). This wine should have another 3-5 years left. 91-92 range.

  • This world class QPR is drinking very well now. The wine has been drinking well since release but is now starting to develop some secondary layers of flavors that you usually only get in more expensive bottles. This would be a great choice to include in a tasting of high end NAPA cabs as a ringer. I would bet almost anything that it would surprise people. The color is inky garnet... no cloudiness at all. On the nose graphite, black cherry, vanilla and a touch of smoke. The palate is hedonistic with cassis , blackberry liqueur, white pepper, and black cherry with a good tannic backbone to assure at least a few more years of development. The flavors are well integrated and the wine exhibits excellent balance. An amazing wine for <$20 per. '12 and '13 should present some more opportunities like this one... to buy excellent, age-worthy wine for very reasonable prices.

  • Continues to evolve in the right direction - throwing some sediment now. Black cherry, cherry, tobacco & charcoal on the nose (vanilla is noticeable with a lot of air but not overbearing). On palate, black cherry, cassis, cocoa, touch of dirt. Medium+ body, silky mouthfeel and long finish with sweet tannins still noticeable. Drank well from PNP and given good acidity, went well with meatloaf 91-92 (92 if forced to name one #).
