10/28/2007 - brucejones wrote: 90 pointsReally opens up after about an hour. Brilliant dark plum colored. Plums and dark chocolate nose. Very fruit flavored, almost like a grenache. Sweet and savory layers. Savory, mid-pallete, almost blue-cheese like (in a good way). Yummy tannins. Complex layered finish with cherries, caramel, cherry lollipops. |

3/9/2007 - brucejones wrote: 95 pointsTasted with lunch at the cellar door. Brilliant purple-red color. Nose of cinamon and figs. Beautiful full mouth feel. Big up-front flavor, moves to big tannins, then finishes almost sweet. Wonderful with cold spanish ham. This wine was transformed from good by itself to amazing with food. On my 1-10 scale: nose: 7, initial taste: 8, finish: 8. AU$90 |

Wow, really intense flavors. Beautiful layers of peach, pears, pear skin, buttered toast, nuts. Incredibly complex finish, tons of layers. Oak is totally under control. |

1/1/2008 - brucejones wrote: 88 pointsVery nice, my first Grüner. Somewhere between a Riesling and a Sauvignon Blanc. Beautiful. Gets some of the green grassiness of Sauv Blanc, but a touch of spritz. Fantastic with split pea and ham soup. |

6/10/2007 - brucejones wrote: 96 pointsTasted at the cellar door. Wow, this is really amazing stuff. Grade A maple syrup colored. It has a huge nose, very full flavored with many layers of raisin, sweet toast, nuts, caramel, and more. The finish is long, but not as amazingly complex as the initial taste. On my 10 point scale, nose: 8, initial taste: 9, finish: 7. AU$34.60 |

2005 K Vintners Syrah Morrison LaneWalla Walla Valley more |
5/27/2008 - brucejones wrote: 89 pointsI had high expectations for this Syrah, but was a bit disappointed. I let the wine air for 3 hours before drinking, and that might have been a mistake; I actually liked it best right after opening it. It had a very nice nose with plenty of dark fruits and maybe even some rose aromas. Taste was big on the black cherry and maybe black licorice department. Where I felt let down was on the finish, it really wasn't as sustained as I would have liked. The interesting flavors were all over about 15 seconds after drinking it and it was completely gone within 30 seconds. A wine of this stature should have been interesting to the end. |

2/25/2008 - brucejones wrote: 70 pointsI was very disappointed with this bottle. There was no depth to the flavor, no edge, not much of anything except a bit of sweetness. I was surprised this reminded me of a cheap California Riesling. I didn't even finish a single glass, it was just not interesting. |

8/30/2009 - brucejones wrote: 75 pointsNo idea what this blend is supposed to taste like, but I'm not crazy about it. Pretty sweet, with some of those dark Gewürztraminer tones. Very little acid, no duration to the finish. Sweet, like something grandma probably drank. No need to buy any more of these. |
