5/10/2021 - ChateauShiny Does not like this wine: 74 pointsThe last wine had to go down the drain and forced my partner to do another blind tasting using this wine. Dirty cranberry in color, can pass off as a Pinot. I get cherry jam, salt, and oak on the nose. Amazingly balanced and on the sweeter side of dry for me. Tart cherry jam – light in taste and could almost pass off as a Rose. Aggressive dusty tannins. Dry finish with lightly toasted oak notes. |

2/1/2016 - Mike Kopanski wrote: 83 points84 is probably generous. The nose actually has some true Pinot Noir, clove and barnyard aromas. The color is clearish magenta. The palate at best is weak and at worst totally devoid of flavor. Don't think the problem is residual sugar, though I don't think it is totally dry. Way deficient in real acidity. Thought rhe 2012 was more credible. |

4/24/2014 - gatame wrote: 81 pointsSoft and slightly sweet style, perhaps more for cocktailing than for food. Fig on the borderline between ripe and overripe, as well as vaguely tropical notes. Little if any oak influence. Not much acidity or finish, and I get a touch of bitterness; served cold enough it's fine for what it is. |

2/2/2016 - ElSol wrote: 80 pointsWhat do you expect for $6? Its got a decent nose. Dark purple, but not glass staining. Initially on the palette its a standard petite sirah. But towards the end its a bit candy-cherry and just a little funky. I considered pouring it out after the first sip but persisted. After a bit I got used to it, and it seems okay. Not terrible, not good enough that I'll stock up with $6 bottles. |

5/13/2013 - Mike Kopanski wrote: 85 pointsIt took a little time in the glass to get some air, but eventually this wine emerged with the flavor profile of Petit Sirah. At first, this wine is so young, I could not perceive any of the typical Petit Sirah flavors. By the bottom of the glass, I conclude this wine is well worth the 4 buck price tag. Has a bit of that glass staining deep purple color. Eventually, the nose shows a funky, bramble, graphite enhanced black fruit aroma. The fruit is a little simple and not particularly intense vanilla and tree sap enhanced light boysenberry and blueberry. Some young raw acid. Little if any oak. Astringent finish. The more air it gets, the better it tastes. |

8/26/2014 - Reamus wrote: 71 pointsThe color is not bad, and has that light cherry-like hue one would expect from a California Pinot; The color, however, is where the virtues end. Strong strawberry aroma with little else, almost tantamount to sniffing fruit juice. High sugars and unripe fruitiness dominate the front-end of the palate, with strawberries maintaining their dominance over the drinking experience; a mild tannic earthiness makes its presence felt on the finish but fails to save the wine from tasting like one would expect from its price point. I've had worse cheap wines in the under $10 category, but there are many better ones out there too. |

5/12/2013 - Mike Kopanski wrote: 86 pointsThe Blue Fin Pinot Noir was so well received that I decided to try their 2012 Viognier. I was afraid this would prove to be something syrupy sweet and flabby, and am glad to be wrong. This is not textbook Viognier. The nose actually has the smell of Granny Smith apple acidity with less floral notes than I expected. There is a bitter, but not all the way decimating, start, to the honeysuckle influenced peach, pear, and pineapple fruit. That bitter flavor extends through the mid palate in a just cracked walnut shell sort of way. As you drink down the glass, this wine grows on you in a raw, but tasty way. Honey and acid on the finish. |

5/10/2013 - brigcampbell wrote: NRFaint yellow. It doesn't follow the profile of a viognier, more like a sauvignon blanc with sweet tree fruit and not a lot of acid. Enjoyable none the less. Perfect sangria mixer. |
