2014 Bodegas Los Toneles Cabernet Sauvignon Tonel 46 ReservaMendoza more |
12/5/2017 - Personal Opinion Likes this wine: NRGood value! Needed a casual 1-2 hours to open and come together. Enjoyable flavors of dark fruit, black current skins, black pepper and savory iron/minerals. Good balance of fruit, depth, weight and concentration for price. Medium-medium-plus body, with soft, polished tannins. Serious enough to pair with simple meats, yet a friendly enough to be enjoyed as a crowd-pleasing cocktail wine. |

5/8/2017 - Personal Opinion Likes this wine: NRA good value, crowd pleaser. Aromas and flavors of ripe strawberries and dark blueberries, swirled with a robe of creamy vanilla. Easy drinking, medium-medium-plus body, mild tannins and enough acidity to make it food friendly. |

3/24/2012 - Personal Opinion wrote: NRJuicy, concentrated blackberry juice, with overtones of pepper, spice and mineral... Medium-medium-plus body.... dusty tannins.. reminiscent of some Syrahs... a good transition to Malbec for Syrah lovers... Consistently a recommendable, must try, Argentinian Malbec... |

11/16/2011 - Personal Opinion wrote: NRDecanted for 2 hours... Hard to distinguish this apart from a Cali Cab. Good QPR... can't complain... It's well made for the price.. fair concentration... open.. balanced.. drinking well.. with integrated tannins... decent finish.. Dark chocolate, concentrated black cherry, black plum, pencil lead, dusty tobacco... paired well with marinated flat iron steak... This was totally made in Napa, right? ;) Without being overly analytical, it's a well made wine.. drink with confidence... it drinks well above it's price point... |

1/11/2022 - Personal Opinion Likes this wine: 93 pointsImpressive GSM from Argentina. Classic CdP stylings. Savory, dark, ripe fruit and black cherry, with subtle brett and iron overtones. Integrated, dusty tannins. Medium-medium-plus body. Integrated acid. Perfect for fatty foods. I believe any CdP fan would enjoy this. Paired well with sausage and garlic potatoes. No complaints. Solid. |

6/12/2011 - Personal Opinion wrote: NRreminiscent of a bigger, ripe cote-du-rhone...in a good sense.. pure, spicy, dusty, candied raspberry fruit, with some high-toned citrus or floral notes??? medium body... some dusty tannins in finish... not very complicated, though enjoyable for it's bigger, candied red fruit style... |

6/24/2011 - Personal Opinion wrote: NRSimply delicious... Ripe strawberry compote.. with probably a slight touch of RS... because it's certainly not savory... it's ripe and a little sweet...an fun, enjoyable quaffing wine.. I now feel confident recommending this wine to the numerous women who will be buying this for their girlfriends... seriously.. REALLY... SERIOUSLY... they'll be drinking some enjoyable juice... for a good price... and it will drink well for at least 4 days once opened... if it last's that long... cheers ladies!!! |

8/5/2012 - Personal Opinion wrote: NRYum!!! Hedonistic!!! Rich, dense, concentrated, jammy, juicy, ripe, red, blue and black fruit, with layers of chocolate and vanilla... A delicious full-bodied wine! No complaints with this modern fruit bomb! Good QPR. A good substitution for port ;) Love it! |

6/12/2011 - Personal Opinion wrote: NRDominating notes of eucalyptus override ripe, concentrated, plummy dark fruit and ceder... typical, if not classic... though not overly, overly extracted (which is good).. it is simply just concentrated, balanced, and enjoyable... with a smooth entry.. and mildly, dusty, grippy tannins showing themselves in the finish... a nice cab... a BIG cab.. with a lingering finish... with a 'little' cedar in the bottom of the glass.. though all typical and expected for an Australian Cab from Connnawarra... a solid Aussie cab for $20.. |

11/9/2017 - Personal Opinion wrote: NRClean and structured. Clean, crisp, lime, citrus, green apple, white floral and flinty mineral aromas/flavors. Medium bodied, with pronounced acid and dry, chalky mouthfeel. Structured. A good German impersonation from MacLaren Vale, Australia. A bit reductive upon opening, though dissipated over extended time. Dry. Shows potential to cellar for a handful of years to soften structure. Good, though needs a little patience. |

7/11/2017 - Personal Opinion Likes this wine: 94 pointsEven better since last enjoying in 2011. More integrated, more balanced, though still a bold, oak ladened beast! Still needs long 2-3hr decant to reach potential. Bold, yet balanced overall. Cassis, coffee grounds, chocolate and mildly, sweet, oak spice. Reminiscent of numerous bold, heavily oaked, Napa Cabs. Teeth stainer. Still noticeably fine, dry tannins, though nothing a bite of thick steak won't overcome. Satisfying, if you are in the mood for a bold, oaky red wine.. I was.. and I'm happy. Drinking great now, though should handle 5 years without a problem, probably longer, if stored properly. Well made. |

1/15/2011 - Personal Opinion wrote: 91 pointsbig, powerful, and modern... with a long finish.. although still with the touch of green that I find Carmenere to display, though definitely not out of balance... a well made wine.. a scoop of dark fruit, a scoop of damp coffee grounds, a scoop of turned earth, and a scoop of creamy, sweet vanilla oak... pair only with the boldest of flavors.. recommendable and enjoyable if you are in the mood for a big, bold, well oaked wine.. I was.. and I enjoyed this one. |

8/9/2017 - Personal Opinion Likes this wine: NRLong decant. Great example of a modern Bordeaux! Complex aromas and flavors of mocha, black coffee, spice, cedar, pencil shavings, graphite, turned earth, sweet tobacco, black cherry, cassis, and black currant skins, combine with layers of savory meat jus and saline. Elegant, yet dense, round and full on palate. Long, lingering finish. Impressive balance of richness and grace. Way more complex, interesting and age worthy then a Napa Valley Red Blend at the same price. Recommended. |

10/9/2010 - Personal Opinion wrote: 90 pointsOpened with pronounced oak influence...vanilla and wax... though well integrated and enjoyable, rather overpowering... good texture... better with time... still drinkable on day 5 (rather, drinking better on day 5, which is good) with more more citrus fruit, a touch of green and light pineapple notes showing.. enjoyable. Med-plus bodied, slight chalky tannin. Good length, with slight richness. Worth the entrance fee, if that is your kind of ride. |

11/5/2011 - Personal Opinion wrote: NRElegant, balanced, medium bodied, with a nice mouthfeel, decent acid backbone, and mildly chalky, integrated tannins... elegant aromas/flavors of cigar box, tobacco, gravel, mineral, charr and scorched earth, overlay dried black current... An elegant, well-made, traditional Bordeaux. Paired well with a marinated flat-iron steak... oh.. and.. I believe it still has some years left ahead of it... though it was already well integrated and developed today. |

6/10/2017 - Personal Opinion Likes this wine: NRGood aroma and flavor when first opened, though texture was disjointed, thin and tannic. After 3 hours of air, everything came together well.. filling out and smoothing out. Classic Bordeaux aromas and flavors of black current skins, graphite, and perfumed wood spice, with notes of worn, black leather, black cherry, resinous herbs and gravel. Medium-full bodied, with balanced acid and fine, dusty, dry tannins. Enjoyable. Highly recommendable for price point. Decant. Pair with savory red meat. |

2/28/2011 - Personal Opinion wrote: NRI noticed this on day 1 in a blind tasting.. kinda meaty, mineral, a slight leather quality, and dark fruited... I liked it.. I thought it stood up well against the 2005 LaGrange.. and unmistakable Bordeaux nose and palate... though on day three I really found this wine blossomed... dark fruit, dense black cherry, black olive, old leather, sweet cigar/tobacco, mineral... classic Bordeaux markers... although the finish IS rather short, it's only $27 for a 2005, which from my perspective is a relatively good value.. b/c it doesn't lack concentration or character... it's a good QPR.. especially for the patient.. open at least a day before enjoyment, or simply give it more time in the bottle.. |

10/18/2017 - Personal Opinion Likes this wine: NRLong 8 hr decant. On the savory side of the fence. Black coffee, black currant skins, green olive, mild eucalyptus and graphite. Smooth, integrated mouthfeel. Medium-medium-plus bodied, with softened tannins, balanced acid and elegant, lingering finish. Paired very well with filet and blue cheese. Drinks above its price point. Should continue to age gracefully and develop more savory characteristics with time. |

2001 Château Lagrange (St. Julien)Red Bordeaux Blend more |
10/11/2017 - Personal Opinion Likes this wine: NREnjoyed over 3 hours after opening. Aromas and flavors of lightly roasted coffee bean, graphite, pencil shavings, worn leather and black fruit skins dominate the profile with good integration. Medium bodied, medium acid, with noticeable dry, dusty tannins. Shorter, dry finish seems to be the biggest shortcoming of this wine. Paired well with filet. Typical 'Left Bank' Bordeaux stylings. Enjoyable, not amazing. Satisfies the itch for a typical, aged, slightly above average Bordeaux. |

WOW! The flavor just won't stop... it's like the wine stained my mouth with caramelized stonefruit... ummm.. OMG! I think this wine has changed my perspective of what is possible... |

4/1/2012 - Personal Opinion wrote: NRStrawberry, raspberry, nutty funkiness and spice, with tons of stony minerality... high acidity, and chalky, gripping tannins... a very seriously structured nouveau, with tons of character... which makes this is more of a village level+ Beaujolais, then simply a simple "Nouveau"... all things considered, this is rather serious stuff... which seems to takes on weight and depth the longer it is exposed to air... after 5 hours, the fruit had darkened and the had structure intensified... best enjoyed with food. |
