Seattle Tasting Group does Tuscan reds (Seattle, WA, USA): When I saw the deep gold color in the glass I thought, oh no, not another California Chardonnay. A year ago I used to love these, but lately the wood is really getting to me. Sure enough, I stick my nose in the glass, and this is oozing toast and butter. Reluctantly I take a taste and there is the toast, but oh what a luscious body to this wine. And then the zingy acidity kicks in and this thing is alive in my mouth with a really powerful finish. Wow, this is a CA-Chard that I like. And so against everything in me I rated this as a 90 point wine and was even more pleased when I realize I have my own bottle of this down in the cellar. As an aside, I have to say that I have loved every bottle of wine I have ever tasted from Dehlinger (Pinot, Chard and Syrah)

Sharp, well delineated without being too angular. Leans more towards stone fruit and wet flowers. Not yet at it's peak.

With lobster and shrimp the acidity went well. After dinner this almost reminded me of a chablis with a bit more maolatic butter. Nice.

A typically large scaled cali chardonnay with ripe Russian River fruit. The fruit is concentrated, viscous, fat and olmost oily. This leans a bit more toward the tropical fruit profile that I had expected. Still, this has a sense of balance due to good acidity and a long finish. The one fault in my opinion is that it fiishes excessively hot at 13.8% alcohol. This is a difficult wine for me to rate. There is inherent quality here but it is not of my liking stylistically. It is missing grace that I find typical in Cali chards. I just can't drink it. After one glass, I actually poured this down the drain. Others will love it.

Nose of cherry and rhubarb. A little hot at first but great mid palate and finish. Cherry, strawberry, and a little smoke. Fairly complex with relatively high alcohol.

I brought this blind to McCarthy & Schiering, and Dan again showed that blinding him with Chardonnay will be close to impossible. Nice toast and some ash on the nose. On the palate this has excellent minerality, some green apple, and that classic Dehlinger acidity. This has a long, mouth-watering finish.

On the nose this showed cherry, some funk, was somewhat Burgundian (confirmed by Don's Francophile wife, Tracy!), and had bits of mincemeat and some spice (cinnamon?). On the palate this wine was superb - flavors matched the nose. Super structure - great acidity to balance the fruit and spice. Drunk from magnum.

Popped and poured. Tropical fruit nose, a little peach with some mineral notes. Rich palate with lots of fruit concentration but not much lift. Could use some more acidity, but for an 8 year old Chard is drinking quite nicely tonight.

Sweet fruit/cherry nose with some barnyard/dirtyness. Sweet ripe fruit on the midpalate, no heat at all for 14.2%. Ripe but heavy tannins. Showing just the outer edges of primary flavors now. Hold now.. drink other '03s possibly in the next 2 or 3 years. Very good now with definitie improvement on the way. Good acid, lots of fruit, ripe tannins means a bright future.

Another fabulous 2001 W&S. Concentrated cherry, raspberry and pomegranate fruit, with some pleasing forest floor funk. Superb structure and depth, with excellent length on the finish. Will go many years but starting to peak.

Nice RR fruit. A bit hot at the start. But a complex wine that is a complete package offering good fruit, acid, complexity and tannin. Cherry predominates but nuances of many things appear including raspberry and a little strawberry. Long tongue coating finish. Low 90s.

No formal notes taken. HAd this at the Glen Ellen Inn restaurant while in wine county.

Nice chardonnay with very good acidity and balance. Nice balance of good mouthfeel and cispness makes this a great overall wine, what I like in a white, especially for easy drinking. I seem to remember good apple flavors.

Straight ruby on color. Clearly hot on nose when 1st opened. THIS WINE NEEDS AT LEAST 10-15 mins to block the OH off. Fruit forward candied cherry on nose combined slightly with a spicy light rhubarb note. Maybe a little strawberry. Very soft oak. Softness predominates over tannins (which are very light) on the palate, but still has a hint of spicyness. I wanted more than heat and fruit for this price (points off for this). I expected a little bit of subtlety out of this wine for the price, and it has little. Concentration of flavors is off here a little as well.

Tasting notes from memory. I recall that the bottle tool considerable time to open up, but even after a few hours, it still retained a burnt butterscotch element indicating that it was on the decline. Some fruit and citrus remain but I think it’s done.

Tremendous, elegant and well structured. Tanins are well integrated and the fruit is still very much alive. No risk of fading, but I'm guessing this is nearing a peak...
