This reminded me of some amazing Napa and Sonoma wines I've had over the years. The nose says "I'm a hedonistic fruit bomb that is going to rip your face off." Blueberry and blackberry pie with vanilla ice-cream on top - and don't forget the chocolate sauce. I think of this as a toe the line wine. I'm an old world wine drinker and this wine has enough balance, complexity, and structure to keep me interested. The delicious factor is on the level of a desert wine, which leads me to believe that 99.9% of wine drinkers would love this. I like it, I respect it, and it's opened my eyes to an important period in the history of Australian wine. Cheers. |

Plums prominant but also hints of smokiness and chocolate. In the mouth this wine is beautifully balance and can have some sense of its age. Nicely balanced with fine, integrated tannins with a logn finish. Fantastic wine that I believe will easily go for another 5 years. |

11/21/2019 - Sunchek Likes this wine: 95 pointsDrinking very well right now. Delicious wine, with a touch of funk - blue cheese, which blows off pretty quick. Replaced by citrus and some green vegetal notes. Palate is dominated by lemon zest and a touch of oiliness. Finishes with a hit of lip smacking unpredictable acidity that defines the wine. Love to revisit this wine in 3-5 years |

Medium to full bodied with wonderful oak integration, I got Chocolate, red berries and some leather on the palate. Unlike some CT's, I found there were tannins which suggests a long drinking window from here. The only problem is that there is a fair amount of sediment which forced us to leave a glass. |

I would recommend anyone wanting to try a true Barossa shiraz not to go past this example. Still has a decade left IMO. Lovely! |

Wait another year before try again. Drinking well now but expect to improve with age. Will easily go further 8 to 10 years |

Decanted into carafes, some left in the bottle for the following day where I was able to try it next to the '06 mentor. This is obviously of a higher calibre and shows the best side of classic Barossa Shiraz. The aromatics after being open for a while were terrific, and showed a wide array of herbs and spices; almonds, pepper, cloves, bay leaves, eucalypt, thyme... Lots of dense blue fruited notes too, with a sense of that old tawny port-type maturity good Barossa reds can show with some bottle age. The palate has 20-25 second length and bright flavoursome acidity. Sheds a bit of sediment. Clearly of high-pedigree fruit from a good year. So good to try this at maturity. May have gone longer, but this was a great occasion for it and it was enjoyed by many. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

10/11/2020 - Johno's Cellar Likes this wine: 95 pointsDeep intense mulberry and blue berry flavours with vanilla and chocolate characters. Dusty oak and a fresh acidity gave structure and freshness for the wine. Wine still has a very long life ahead of it although it is opening up to reveal itself |

This is a great wine and an absolute great value wine with plenty of cellaring potential. Drink within the next 3-5 if you have laying around. |

4/15/2022 - Leto South wrote: 95 pointsCf to our notes from 2018, the wine has not aged much at all. We can no longer feel the vanilla, the herbs have a touch of mint, otherwise we stand by our judgement. Maybe it is a tad more balanced and smooth, hence the extra point. Will last a few yrs more. Great wine! |
