9/9/2015 - Phenol73 Likes this wine: 94 points(At BBR's Italian Tour 2015) :: Delicate, quite soft but very well proportioned on the nose, showing a lovely balance of spice, rose and cherry. A rich, enveloping mouthfeel; again superbly balanced, with fine tannins and a med/long finish |

6/21/2020 - Snoski62 Likes this wine: 93 pointsSad to say goodbye to the last of three bottles. This opens up so nicely after a couple of hours of decant. Beautiful brick red/orange. Varied nose with charcoal and mint complemented by floral scents. Strawberry, cherry and leather flavor with a well integrated finish with smooth tannins. Wish I had more! |

6/21/2019 - antkorbel Likes this wine: 95 pointsOne of my favourite producers of Brunello when I purchased this wine almost a decade ago, i was keen to so how this had aged and if my tastes had changed. Very well and not much to be succinct. This is a beautiful wine. I hate the comparison, but it is almost Burgundian / chambolle in its aromatics. So beautifully balanced to drink. An absolute treat and one of the best wines I’ve had this year. |

6/15/2019 - VINNICK Likes this wine: 93 pointsDecanted for one hour and drank over four. Left a nugget for the next day. This is a slow ox. Open early in am to drink in evening. Beautiful wine with a medium light body but packing plenty of power and finesse. Sweet cherries spice tabaco. All the markings of a great Brunello. The first two hours packed and undertone of orange peel which wore off as the hours ticked by. Started as a 90-91 but evolved into a 93-94. Definitely a wine that can age for 10 more years if not longer as the tannins are not yet fully resolved. Look forward to the next bottle....the nugget left over for day 2 only confirmed everything above. Tasted even better! |

2/24/2019 - cardsandwine Likes this wine: NR2 hour slo-o. Drank this bottle after enjoying the 2007 Poggio di Sotto. Started out like the Poggio with elegance and superb balance. After 30 minutes in the glass the wine took on incredible depth and finesse and soared from the glass with each sip. Truly a wine with soul! |

6/22/2018 - RichD2 Likes this wine: 94 pointsDecanting removed moderate sediment. Dark but somewhat transparent red color. Nose of ripe fruit, tar, black currants, spice, tobacco, and smoke. Elegant medium body fruit and tar, spice flavors, with ample acidity. Ripe elegant tannins while feeling somewhat gritty (this gritty feel dissipates the next day). Very long intense finish. The next day the wine softens considerably but in my opinion you need not be in any hurry to drink this even though you may wish to since it is so good. |

5/6/2018 - bigop Likes this wine: 94 pointsAbsolutely stunning! Tasted blind, and so elegant on the nose and palate, that my friend went Burgundy. Hello?!? Great brunello in a good vintage, perfectly well made. Red fruits, med+ acidity and body. Soft elegant tannins. All in all an amazing wine. Glad I got 4 left and I'll be looking to buy some in other good vintages. |

11/9/2016 - Eric Guido Likes this wine: 92 pointsThe ‘07 Stella di Campalto takes the ripeness of the vintage and marries it perfectly with the lifted nature of the house style. Here, crushed cherry dominated, yet still with a savory edge, giving way to sweet spice, dried orange peel and floral perfumes. On the palate, I found tart cherry and spice, with masses of sweet inner florals, in a light and feminine expression. The finish displayed tart cherry and savory herbal notes. There was a slight lack of substance here, but it’s a great effort for the vintage. |

5/29/2016 - Euge67 Likes this wine: 92 pointsLontano dal riserva 2009 bevuto qualche mese fa, ma comunque non sfigura. Elegante come sempre, aperto decisamente troppo presto. Richiede ancora almeno 5 anni. Dopo 24 ore in decanter regala molte soddisfazioni. |

1/6/2016 - chablis28 wrote: 95 pointsMedium ruby color. The purity, depth and energy of this wine is grand cru level. That, combined with harmonious balance on a weightless frame makes this a real winner. Classic flavors of cherry, tobacco and licorice sail to a nice long finish. Great transparency and varietal typacity. This drinks more like a 2010 then a 2007. Nose was reticent at first but opened up after 30 minutes in the decanter. Suggest this gets at least an hour in a decanter if not 2. Some tannins yet but they disappear completely with food. Paid $80 and completely worth it. Even worth the $95 it sells for now for the 07. I might have grab a couple more of these. A lovely and inspiring wine, right now. |

9/5/2014 - chablis28 wrote: 93 pointsMed-light garnet color you'd expect from a more traditional producer than she is reputed to be. Right now, I think, she is considered a bit of an experimenter still seeking the best mix of old and new ideas. Whatever she's up to it works for my more traditional palate and this was a delight to drink. The vibrancy and sparkle of this wine is very appealing. That, combined with harmonious balance and depth on a weightless frame makes this a real winner. Classic flavors of cherry, tobacco and licorice sail to the nice long finish. Great transparency and varietal typacity. Only downside to this wine is its small production leads to the $80 I paid for it. Worth it for sure but not the bargain of a the also high quality volume producer, Il Poggione. Thus I only bought 2 of these so I'll hold onto my 2nd btl for its expected peak window around 2018 +. |
