3/5/2015 - emzee.mc wrote: 92 pointsAt 14.9% abv, this monster is popped and pours a beautifully saturated golden color with very long legs. On the nose, the strong alcohol brings forth a rich and full scent of oak and honey. This is supported by a bevy of oats, candied lemon peel, rosewater, Grand Marnier and toasted almonds. On the palate, the wine displays a wonderful structure - potent but not cloying at all. The heat from the alcohol definitely wrestles itself to be acknowledged as soon as it hits the tongue. With it are flavors of marzipan, lemon curd, honeyed nuts, oak and candied roses. Acidity is kept at a low here; but despite that, there is a freshness and minerality to the chardonnay that keeps it lively. Although the finish is of medium length, the wine is very concentrated in both scent and taste. Critics may carp about the lack of complexity in the wine. But to me, this is great juice that shows meticulous extraction and strikes a very good balance between a Cali chard and a white Burgundy. |

2/17/2017 - emzee.mc wrote: 90 pointsThe bottle pours a deep golden color as it starts to show its age. On the nose, the wine is pungent and concentrated. Thankfully the use of oak is rather restrained. The bouquet consists of fresh-cut grass, citrus cream, minerals, pineapples, almonds and just a touch of buttered popcorn. Palate is broad and generous. Flavors of butterscotch, lemon meringue pie, crushed rocks, and toasted oak are all there. Finish is of moderate length with a smoky tint. In many ways, this is a very typical Californian chardonnay due to the ripeness and unmistakably judicious use of oak. That said, although the power and weight is there, the wine lacks focus and precision. Nothing wrong with that though as this is still an enjoyable bottle. |

9/18/2017 - dcmabush Likes this wine: 93 pointsLoved this wine. It starts with a golden color that reminded me of liquid sunshine. The nose embraces you with hints of honey and green apple. As you savor the wine, it will remind you of light citrus with a touch of a red apple followed by a pleasing acidic finish. |
