DG 01/2019, 78m. on lees, so base vintage should be 2011. Discrete nose with, after a bit of swirling, complex aromas of bruised apples, almonds, pear, cake, spices. Rich palate, low dosage feeling, very much in the grower style, banking on ripe fruit and not dosage and giving a phenolic, earthy, dry palate feeling. Definitely foe food, not aperitif.
QPR wise probably the best choice of Egly. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to try a Pinot led Grower style Champagne.

Vintage base 2016, disgorged 11/2021.
Pale gold. Buttered brioche, strawberry on the nose. Ample fine mousse.
In the mouth, rich stone fruit and citrus on entry -- apricot, grapefruit, mandarin orange, ginger. Rich brioche with coppery mineral shows in the mid, and that tart citrus winds throughout the whole into the finish. Overall rich, layered, balanced, textured.

This was really great. Unusual for Egly to have a Chardonnay dominated blend, but I was certainly impressed. Very clean on the nose, fresh on the palate, but with the stuffing to make it more serious that a normal aperitif. Drank at a party so specifics are escaping me, but I remember it was the champagne of the night. Not as bright as a Krug, or as rich as a Bollinger, but found this somewhere in the middle and very high quality and vinous.

Saturday hangout at Domaine (Chicago, IL): Time on yeast: 48 months; disgorged July 2021, 2 g/L dosage. Assemblage base vendange 2016. The back label distinctly mentions Extra Brut, despite so few entries of that there; most of them are Brut. So who knows? In any case, I didn't really like this bottle -- it just felt disjointed and prickly. All the right elements were there, so many it's just a matter of giving it more time, as I've definitely enjoyed this wine in the past.

Rosé champagne session by Asparagus at Maison Dakota. Tasted blind. Drank in Gabriel Standart.
Appearanxce is clear, pale intensity, salmon pink with an orange hue. Thin legs. Fine bubbles.
Nose medium intensity, with aroms of orange blossoms, tangerines, orange peel skins, hint of oxidativeness. Developing.
On the palate, dry, very high acidity, medium- alcohol (12.5%), medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of strong orange tangerine, sweet spices, salty minerality. Long salty finish. Gets more savoury with air also.
Very good quality. Going strong and might improve more with more bottle age. First bottle of the night to be emptied.
Assemblage base vendange 2017. Dosage 2g/l. Disgorged Sep 2022.
70% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay (with 5% Coteaux Champenois)

Appearance: Bright and clear, the wine is of medium salmon colour, with fine and consistent bubbles and legs.
Nose: Clean, with medium (+) intensity aromas of citrus fruit of lemon, green fruit of apple, red fruit of strawberry, autolytic notes of yeast, mineral notes of stony, floral notes of orange blossom, sweet spice of ginger. The wine is developing.
Palate: Dry with high acidity, the wine has medium alcohol, medium (-) body, with medium (+) intensity flavours of citrus fruit of citrus fruit of grapefruit, green fruit of apple, red fruit of raspberry, autolytic notes of yeast, mineral notes of stony. The wine has a medium (+) finish.
Conclusion: Very good quality Champagne with an intense nose showing good elegant and complex aromas, with the long ageing on lees apparent from the nice yeasty notes that are perfectly harmonized. On the palate the wine has good acidity, vibrant and energetic, well-balanced and delicious with good concentration of flavours and a fairly long finish. Ready to drink now, it can further develop for another 3-5 years.

Reynaud wine tasting, Pure Spirits (Gallina restaurant): Degorgement 09/2022, dosage 2g/lt, 12.50%, extra brut, based on 2017 vintage
The wine shows beautiful ripe fruit, stone fruit, biscuit, floral notes
Palate juicy, a lot of fruit, citrus, stone fruit, apricot, nice body, nice carbonation, structured, juicy, med body, med finish, red cherries, red currants, nice fresh and crunchy

Eye: Light copper to medium salmon. The bubbles are tiny and move at moderate speed.

Nose: Brioche and marzipan. Caramel. Lightly oxidative. Strawberry jam. Cherry, lemon, grapefruit. Crème de cassis.

Palate: Really lovely in the mouth. Strawberry, cherry. Lemon juice. Brioche. Wonderfully tart. Touch of grapefruit and sea-shells. Green apple.

Finish: Long. Lemon and brioche linger, before tapering off to cherry and strawberry.

Overall: For me, the mark of a great wine is that I feel a slight pang of sadness when I poor the final glass. This bottle absolutely fits into that category.

Beautiful perlage with a tight and refined palate. Very consistent from start to finish. Flavors of eucalyptus, herbs, and ripe green apple. Less brioche notes than the VP (shorter time on lees), but still plenty of depth.

Delightful now but should mature well over the next several years.

Just wow, never drank such a young good Egly. The 2012 was great either. Close to perfection. Very concentrated, NOT oxidative style, fresh and brutally long finish. 99

Again sublime, close to perfection, even in this young stage. Blindly I would never guess it is Egly. No annoying oxidative elements. Powerful as usually but precise and elegant as I never had before from Francis. 2012 is similar. 98-99

This is 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay from 40-year-old vines in Ambonnay. The wine was aged completely in barrel and there was only two grams per litre dosage. It is a seductive, layered, yet powerful expression of Ambonnay and, with the Blanc de Noirs, it represents one of the very finest wines of the Montagne de Reims Grand Cru area.

During a MOT masterclass with William Kelly. This was quite oxidative at the start, too much for me. I have seen this with Egly that sometimes the same wine can be more or less oxidative, bottle by bottle. Interestingly the. Oxidation blew off more and more in the glass and the Champagne showed its richness and complexity. However, today it was outshined by the Ulysse-Collin.

The structure, the acidity, the mousse, the balance are off the charts and deserve high praise. I don’t see the complexity yet to get to Will’s perfect score but then again this is still a baby and a bit tight today.

TN: Medium+ expressive nose with lime, minerality. On the palate this shows fine lime, citrus freshness, chalky minerality, some herbs and red berries too. Elegant and with fine mousse, although it is still a bit tight at first and later a bit too broad (it got a bit too warm in the glass, so I ignore that). The balance is wonderful and the acidity spine couldn’t be better.

Tasted at the Matter of Taste Zurich, “Champagne Now and Then” Masterclass. According to William Kelley not the most powerful wine he’s every made, but the most elegant and refined wine he’s ever made. What was a distinctive feature here were fine accents of nuts and almonds. Bruised brown pear fruit and mineral dimensions. A complex and perfectly balanced palate.

Disgorged July 2022 after 96 months. Perhaps my favorite Egly to date, showing natty yoghurt flavors (i.e. Ulysses Roises) and not as much yeast/lees as prior vintages. Bright, pure, super resolved and balanced. 95+

A nearly perfect champagne. Much less oxidative as let's say 8-10 years ago. Black currant, spicy, concentrated and with great drinking flow. 99-100
