Nose is very unique or rather suspicious, port like, coffee, nutty and a bit oxidize. And I thought it could be over the hill too. Surprisingly the palate slowly evolve to show cassis, nutty flavours and dried dark fruits. Still has some bodied and substance with plenty of acidity. Good finishing and almost dissolve tannins. Still holding and drinkable but not showing a lot of classic Bordeaux character like the 1978 Château La Croix St. Georges. A bit disappointed actually. |

I decided to open this rare bottle on my birthday dinner as a special bottle of my birth year, and certainly I'm a bit cautious as few other reviews thought that it has past its prime. I am glad that it turned out fantastic for the night and everybody enjoyed so much on this wines. |

Complex bouquet of earth, farmyard and leather interwoven with blackcurrant, sweet fruit, spice, red fruit and vanilla. Holding very well on palate still showing some freshness with a nice perfume edge, lots of blackcurrant, sweet fruits, slight farmyard and mushroom. Mellow down but showing good intensity with seamless mid-palate. Very lively acidity, velvety tannins and long lingering finish with roasted coffee aftertaste. |

The nose is dominance by graphite, along with deried fruits, pencil lead, mineral and chalk. Again there is plenty of graphite on palate, with other secondary flavours like pencil lead, earth and dried fruits. Still vibrant acidity , soft chewy tannins and end with medium+ finish. |

It took a while to open up nicely, drinking well now and it still can be cellared for few more years. Smooth, loads of black currant and dried herbs on palate, very good mid palate and fine grained tannins with long finish. |

Holding very well and still shows a solid entry with good acidity backbone, blackfruits, blackcurrant, dried fruits and subtle tobacco on palate. Fine tannins with a soft grip, very pleasant drinking with nice intensity on the midpalate. Slightly better than 70 Chasse-Spleen and 72 Les Forts de Latour but this is what I expect from a repectable Chateau in a good vintage. 94+ |
