Leads with stewed red fruits, on to an autumnal character. Slippery with talc tannin.

Ruby red and transluscent. Earthy with surprising tanning levels and some spice.

Pretty much as per the label. So, nectarine, citrus peel, minerality/wet stone and lightly toasted nuts. Ample length. Builds and improves with a couple of hours of air, not really a pop and pour proposition... back at the start I was more 87.

Elegant and calm, this pinot shows it's region well, yet aspires to the old world upbringing style. Lovely!

A nice middle of the road Pinot Noir, not the most complex but also no off flavors and a lovely aroma.

Nose shows strong notes of blackberry, strawberry, and basil, with sweet, soda-like notes of rhubarb and sarsaparilla. On the palate, the flavour, tannin, and acidity are all strong, though it doesn't have a mouth-filling structure. Light-to-medium-bodied, with powerful flavours of blackberry, black cherry, and prune, with hints of liquorice and rosemary. After a few hours, the tannins fade away and the acidity becomes overly prominent. An enjoyable wine, but I suggest drinking it quickly.

One of the best 2011 Pinots I've had. This one drinks great now, but will only get better as you let it rest over the next 10 years.

Somewhat muted nose of citrus, lemons, appricots and just a touch of honey.

On pnp straight from the fridge it was quite muted. Nice sweet honey like flavor with definite hints of the classic riesling profile and just a touch of acid.

To be completely honest, that first taste was quite a let-down, as I didn't get any complexity, no finish, and not nearly as much as acidity as I was hoping for.

Thankfully, after about 15 minutes in the glass, as it warmed closer to room temp, this wine really started to show nicely. The acidity really starts to pop as a perfect balance to the sweet riesling. Some additional nuances and more citrus and honey notes started showing on the palate and pulled through to a short to medium finish.

Glad a gave this a few minutes to open up. I usually prefer my dessert wines somewhere between fridge and cellar temp, but this definitely benefits from being closer to room temp. This is also a very young wine, and I may just have to buy some more to see how this will take to some aging.

For those looking for a comparison to the Jana Angel Eis, they are very similar in their basic flavor profiles. I would put this more in the honey apricot range with a slightly more viscous mouthfeel, where as the Angel Eis shows slight more of a cleaner crisp floral spectrum of the rieslings. Both are very good wines that I would recommend to anyone.

Red/some slight rim variation but not as much as when tasted at the tasting room 2 years ago. Lush red fruit, cherry, some ocean air, boysenberry on the nose. Acid is still there and tannins are also evident. Med body. This opens up after 30 minutes and is still fresh and alive. Really surprising as last time tasted was showing much more aging than this bottle is showing. 3-5 years easily left before showing signs of fading. Great example of SLH PN. Not a very long finish but excellent flavor and body.

Very dark and high toned. Ripe fruit is evident in the cherry jam aromas that are typical of the appellation. "Brilliant ruby-red. Sexy, oak-spiced aromas of black raspberry and cherry-cola, with a smokey nuance gaining strength in the glass. Sappy, incisive dark berry flavors take a brighter turn with air, picking up notes of bitter cherry and candied rose. The vanilla note comes back on the finish, which shows excellent clarity, supple tannins and lingering sweetness. I like this extroverted Pinot's blend of richness and vivacity."

I liked this a lot and even more than Lucia/Pisoni wines I've tried lately. This has some nice minerality with cola, pomegranate, cherry and dark fruit at work. A little bit of earth on the nose...I liked it even more on a second night from the decanter. This was a much different impression from my comments 2 years ago. The extra bottle age must be at play in a positive way.

Wow...terrible first night impression. Devoid of fruit character and astringent. Carrying for another night taste but I'm not hopeful...Night 2 it has opened a bit...some cola notes, blackberry, and dark cherries...there is some mouth feel and finish bit it's still tight and atypical of the very good Sta Lucia Highlands I usually enjoy in my cellar. This is certainly not a modern CA offering that are approachable right out of the box, and this one with some bottle age is still locked up!! The rest will be cooking wine!!

Big meaty Pinot that I should have saved for a nice steak dinner. Nose of black fruit that tricked me into thinking that I was smelling a cab. Lots of flavor and it had a lot of cellar life left.
