11/24/2023 - La Cave d'Argent Likes this wine: 91 pointsSourced from multiple Russian River vineyards, this Chardonnay is vibrant and balanced from start to finish. Light golden in color, it flaunts an aromatic array of lime zest, Bosc pears, lemon verbena, kiwi, honeysuckle and vanilla. Medium-bodied, crisply acidic, proportionately oaked and with well-integrated alcohol (listed as 13.5%), it delivers flavors mirroring the nose and stays dense in the middle. Lengthy and energetic on the back end, this is a beautifully crafted New World Chardonnay that can be popped and poured at any time over the next 4-5 years. Drink now-2028. |

6/1/2023 - isaacjamesbaker wrote: 92 pointsBright but deep yellow color. The nose bursts with orange peel and fresh lemons, yellow pears, mixed with honeycomb, almond skin, and notes of talc and crushed shells. The palate sports a beautiful creaminess – contrast that with racy, chalky acidity and a salty, pure, focused appeal. The fruit is generous, with chunks of pineapple and yellow apples, but it stays lively and lip-smacking. Notes of sea spray, honey, chalk dust, almond, they play so well together. Gary Farrell really knows how to translate the richness and clarity of Russian River Chardonnay in a way that speaks memorably. Aged 10 months in 30% new French oak. |

2/10/2024 - modyl Likes this wine: 90 pointsNice acidity, energetic red and black cherry and some berry. A touch of cola, some earth and spice but nothing crazy - might develop a bit with a couple more years. Right now the complexity is a bit muted and probably needs time to delineate. Fine tannins, integrated nicely. A good wine overall, I appreciate the liveliness going on here. I only gave it 20 minutes of air. |

6/1/2023 - isaacjamesbaker wrote: 92 pointsDeep ruby color. Such a warm, enticing aromatic display of bright raspberries and deep, mulled black cherries, along with nuances of rhubarb and cola, hints of roses, violets, white pepper, warm clay. The palate has this crisp, crushable feel, but supple tannins and the deep fruit and complexity offer a lot to parse through and enjoy. Lively acidity plays off of nuances of earth, dried rose petals, paprika and pepper, warm clay. Classic Sonoma Pinot goodness, this is smooth and deep and hits the spot, per usual from Gary Farrell. Will age nicely and show a lot more in a few years. Aged 13 months in 40% new French oak. |

5/28/2022 - mflesh wrote: NRStill a touch acidic. Like a lot of GF wines I think they are released about 1-2 years too early. Nose is tropical fruits. Palate has a lot.of zip up front, lemongrass and lemon rind. Has a lot of weight for an SB. Made in the new Napa style for SB but without the $100+ price tag since this is Sonoma fruit. The best days of this wine are definitely ahead of it IMO. Rochioli fruit is always solid with regard to Chardonnay but this is the first time I've had the pleasure to experience a Rochioli SB especially from a producer who knows how to manipulate this fruit no other than Gary Farrell. Honestly this one would best benefit from a 1-2 year time machine but pairs best right now with key lime pie and being poolside. |

11/21/2022 - The Drunken Cyclist Likes this wine: 90 pointsThe Fifth Annual Blind Tasting of American Pinot Noir: Retail $45. Quite shy initially, but dark fruit eventually comes through on the nose. That same shyness on the palate but the fruit and tartness come screaming in on the finish. 90 points. |

10/21/2022 - isaacjamesbaker wrote: 92 pointsLively cherry color. The aromas pop with crisp cherry and raspberry, strawberry, red apple peel, so vibrant and mixed with tones of tobacco, rhubarb, mint, some clay and cola. The palate shows crisp acidity and a plush feel, smooth tannins. The fruit tastes crisp, cool and delightful (black cherries, raspberries, juicy strawberries). Pretty elements of rhubarb, white pepper, bay leaf, mixing with nuanced cola and toffee with floral, spicy tones on the finish. Crisp, fresh, balanced Pinot. |

10/21/2022 - isaacjamesbaker wrote: 91 pointsDeep yellow color. Beautiful nose of yellow apples, lemons, pineapple, with white flowers, sea salt, chalk dust and crème brulee tones. The palate shows racy acidity which keeps things in balance and contrasts nicely off the rich yellow apple, lemon curd and zesty lime fruit. Chalky, flinty undertones, with nuanced walnut and graham cracker. This is a fresh, delightful Russian River Chardonnay that would please so many a palate. Great value, too. Aged nine months in 30% new French oak. |

5/8/2023 - seijaro Likes this wine: 90 pointsA strange one! On opening, the nose was strong but the taste was subdued. After 30 minutes in the glass, the nose blew off and the taste came up nicely: a lovely CA Chard with all the right stuff, we gave it 91. Unfortunately, the second glass just died, fell back to 89. Too strange to pay $34 so not a buyer, but quite nice at its best. |
