2011 Domaine Tempier Bandol BlancWhite Blend more |
10/20/2012 - BobJohnson1 Likes this wine: NRLight straw gold. Big nose of pear. Medium bodied, flavors of orchard fruits, honey, flowers, hay and minerals. Long finish with a slight bitter note that I kinda liked. I felt that this grape variety could have easily gone clunky, but the excellent winemaking keep it light and balenced. I was really excited to try this wine, being a hugh Tempier fan and this being the first bottle of white I have been able to lay my hands on. Not at the level of their Rose or Red, but still very good. This wine gave me the feeling of sitting on a large rock in a wild meadow basking in warm September sunshine. 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

11/21/2013 - BobJohnson1 Likes this wine: NRFirst taste of the 2011. Medium purple. Forward nose, more floral than normal. A bit lighter body than recent vintages. Delicious flavors, with the fruit leaning more to the red side. Very pronounced acidity. On the finish the fruit takes on an candied red sweetness as the dusty tannins coat the mouth. Long finish that has a pleasant bitter note. I love this wine. |

2011 Dard et Ribo Crozes-HermitageSyrah more |
1/1/2014 - BobJohnson1 Likes this wine: NRDark Syrah. Really fruity, spicy and peppery. Excellent northern rhone casual food wine. Previous note said ''Bistro'', yes, perfect description. This is a wine for really good friends, loud funky music, good food and maybe a cigarette or two and late night conversations. Bravo. |

11/30/2012 - BobJohnson1 Likes this wine: NRTempier 2010 release party (Andrea's Restaurant): Purple. Nice red fruit. Mineral, tannin, acid, fruit all in prefect balance. Long finish. Elegant, classy wine. Delicious. I would give this 10 years bottle age. Excellent. |

2010 Domaine Tempier Bandol La TourtineMourvèdre Blend, Mourvèdre more |
10/31/2012 - BobJohnson1 Likes this wine: NRRich medium purple. First whiff had a hint of reduction or sulfur but that quickly blew off. After an hour in decanter the wine started to sing. A truly wonderful bottle of wine. Sweet dark fruits, red fruits, brambles, minerals, very typical Tempier flavors. Perfect balance. Primary, but very interesting and a joy to drink. This will age magnificently on balance. Kind of like the 08, but with more stuffing. One of the best young red wines I have had all year. |

11/30/2012 - BobJohnson1 Likes this wine: NRTempier 2010 release party (Andrea's Restaurant): Purple. Sweet fruit, mineral, earth and spice. Big wine. Surprisingly open. Big mouthful of wine. Finish like a freight train. Still, balanced and enjoyable. This is going to take 20 years to reach drinking window. Excellent. |

11/30/2012 - BobJohnson1 wrote: NRTempier 2010 release party (Andrea's Restaurant): Purple. Riper than the regular bottling. Dark fruits, white pepper, meat and persimmon. Much more like a northern Rhone wine than southern. Forward and expressive, but still in need of 5 years or so. Very nice. |

10/20/2012 - BobJohnson1 wrote: NRVery light yellow with a hint of green. This wine had a deep 3D intensity. Tight and nervy. Some oak and creosote on the nose, medium bodied with waves of fruit. Good finish. In need of a few years bottle age. Drinking this makes me realize how much I love Chardonnay handled in this way. Very good. |

10/24/2012 - BobJohnson1 wrote: NRFirst smell was very strange. Must have been the stems. This bottle funk blew off after a bit. Nice sweet berries, a dollop of oak and a very tart acid profile. A Bourgogne in need of a few years. Fine now for Acid heads, but I think after a couple years of mellowing, a tasty Bourgogne. |

11/12/2012 - BobJohnson1 Likes this wine: NRMedium purple. Primary nose. Typical Tempier flavor, big structure. Full acid and tannin. After taste was like black cherry/ black raspberry rock candy. Wave after wave of dark fruit flavors changing with each sip. Really complex for such a young wine. This is excellent and balanced. I think I may have said this before, but this is the best since the 01! I have already drank 5 bottles since release..... gonna have to leave a few to age. The singles ought to be awesome in 2010. This looks to be a fantastic year at Tempier. Great wine. |
