Tasted blind. Dark fruit, menthol, dark cherries, tart berries, and some pepper notes on the nose. Very tannic with good acidity, more dark fruit and spices on the palate. Nice, long finish. Great wine! Still very primary, I would give this at least another 5-10 years. 93+

Decanted and poured, this wine begins structured and firm. Airing brings out nuance and detail with the wine showing a combination youthful, primary notes with some underlying maturing elements. This bottle gives a similar impression to a previous experience with this wine; however, on this occasion shows some additional develop from the additional bottle age. This drinks well now with decanting and should benefit from from a few more years in the cellar.

I opened this at our 7/12/14 brisket dinner / Mourvedre tasting. It had a rich, powerful and layered bouquet of blackberry, black cherry, plum, cocoa, mocha, spice and mineral aromas. The palate was rich, dense, moderately tannic and dry with flavors that followed the nose. 94+

Decanted and poured, this wine gave an outstanding showing. The aromatics show a mix of red and black fruits coupled with stone, spice, leather and herb notes that are detailed and focused. The color is an almost opaque dark ruby to purple. The full bodied palate shows density, structure and detail. It gives a medium to long finish with ample tannin and sufficient acidity. At this stage the wine is large scaled and youthful. This wine will benefit from additional bottle age. On this occasion the wine benefited from airing and showed its best about an hour after decanting.
Youthful purple. Nose closed at first. Decanted 1hr. Layer upon layer of dark fruits. Just a hint of sweet smoke...new oak? Didn't think they used oak here...Very approachable for a young Cabassaou. Primary, but delicious. Long finish. Excellent.
