2022 Domaine Dandelion Rosie RedBourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Pinot Noir more |
4/9/2024 - etyc Likes this wine: NRBlinded. What a coincidence when it was eventually unveiled. I was just looking/searching for Dandelion wines (to buy/try) when this turned up at our dinner! Attractive aromas (to me), in the whole-bunch, nature-ish style done right - roses, violets, cherries mixed with incense, this was outright beautiful. Tasty, elegant, fresh, with more cherries on the palate. This was lovely. Can't wait to try another of Dandelion's wines again! |

3/13/2024 - etyc Likes this wine: NRBlinded... Wow, this was impressive. Reduction/matchstick, flinty, nice "sunny fruit" (should've guessed New World). Good concentration/fruit-weight & fresh long finish! |

5/22/2023 - etyc Likes this wine: NRTasted from barrel. A classy & regal wine, with length to boot. Not as explosive as the Purcelles (for now), but I can "imagine" how good this can be with some cellaring time. Very good! |

5/22/2023 - etyc Likes this wine: NRTasted from barrel. This was scintillating. Could've been my favourite '22 wine (white) Chez Chartron, even incl. the Chevy which we had also tasted. The Chevy was certainly more regal/classy, this Pucelles just happened to be in the strike-zone - intensity, tension, crispness, length. Will be interesting to see how this appears in bottle... |

11/3/2023 - etyc Likes this wine: NRPnP'ed. An alluring whole/bunch-cluster bouquet of roses, cherries burst from glass without much coaxing. Satiny, silky & elegant, this was flavourful and very well-balanced (w/ freshness/acidity). With time (in glass), notes of smoke, white-peppers started to show. Guesses around the table mostly centered around a very young Chassagne-red, a "new-age" Spanish Grenache and subsequently, even a Cote-Rotie. This was a very delicious wine; Will be curious how it'll further develop with time (hard to keep one's hands-off bottles)? |

3/30/2024 - etyc Likes this wine: NRHad this over lunch with the family, with Peking-duck. An intoxicating nose that showed (not too overwhelmingly) some "natural" notes - stems, smoke, incense, with roses & cherries in tow... Weighty yet silky on the palate with more red/dark-red fruits. Expressive & impressive! |

3/14/2024 - etyc Likes this wine: NRPnP'ed. Super expressive whole-cluster type aromatics right out of the btl/glass - smoke, spice, jasmine, stems, followed by dark-red berries. Medium-bodied with nice texture, this was savory & delicious, carried through with a fresh and lively finish. This will certainly improve and gain complexity with age, 'cept it'll be difficult to lay our hands off remaining btls... |

2021 Domaine Nicole Lamarche Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les ChaumesPinot Noir more |
4/9/2024 - etyc Likes this wine: NRServed side-by-side the '21 Lamarche Suchots (and a '20 Janthial Wadana). This was the lighter and more lifted one, of the pair. Floral on the nose with red-cherries, this was however a tad light on the palate, esp. vs. the Wadana. Still, this would make a delicious drink esp. on its own. |

4/9/2024 - etyc Likes this wine: NRStylistically similar to the Chaumes, this was the "bigger" sibling. More complex on the nose, with added spice. Denser, weightier on the palate as opposed to the Chaumes, this still came up short beside the Wadana... |

2021 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Gevrey-ChambertinPinot Noir more |
4/26/2024 - etyc Likes this wine: NRNext up was this pair of Rousseaus (non-blind) - this '21 Gevrey village & the '19 Chambertin. Greeted almost immediately by a beautiful/perfumy bouquet of red-berries, spice & some roses. Very easy (perhaps too easy) on the palate, this was extremely pure & lifted with more red-berry fruits. As opposed to the Chambertin, this definitely seemed a tad light-footed, but nonetheless, a very pretty wine and most enjoyable! |

10/21/2023 - etyc Likes this wine: NRPnP'ed, this exhibited an immediately attractive/floral bouquet - cherries, rose-petals, stems. Surprisingly (at least to me), this was lighter-bodied on the palate than the Seven Springs Pinot (which was served later) - bits of "greeness", it seemed, would've been great if it had the body of the Seven Springs. |

3/14/2024 - etyc Likes this wine: NRPnP'ed. It was a bit strange to see crystals/sediments around the neck of the btl and bottom of the cork. I had at first thought the cork was disintegrating since the crystals that formed was almost of similar colour as the cork... Anyway, this started off muted as it was cold, with btl just removed from ice-bucket. Began to strut its stuff as it got warmer after 20-30mins in the glass, with scents of matchstick (reduction), followed by smoke & florals at the same time. Palate also gained weight/depth, with notes of citrus & green-apples coming to the fore. Nice fresh finish! This should keep and improve with more btl age... |

3/22/2024 - etyc Likes this wine: NRInteresting. Bit of reduction/matchstick on the bouquet, then bits of white-florals. A bit light-bodied, but nice minerality & tension. Should be better with more cellar time. |

12/30/2023 - etyc wrote: NRPnP'ed. Blinded & served as a aperitif at the start of the dinner, amongst a trio of Champagnes. An interesting wine, or perhaps, a wine that showed interestingly... My first time (w/ this wine) too - first impressions, that this didn't seem like a Chard which was what all of us thought as well. Most had this as some Rhone-blend and all had this somewhere in the "Old World". Interesting bouquet of pears with a (linear, focused) palate that had crushed stones, minerality & tropical-fruits. A very interesting wine that warrants another try with more cellar-time/age, to see how it will develop... |

9/29/2023 - etyc Likes this wine: NRDinner at Jackson Miller @ SSC. Brought this as a final blind - PnP'ed. This was nice & attractive from the get-go. A bit of reduction/burnt-match/flinty notes when poured, then white-florals, lemons & apples followed, with a good mineral mouthfeel and finish. Most guessed either Puligny or Chassagne. A very nice wine for its price! 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

4/9/2024 - etyc Likes this wine: NRDecanted (into Voss) ~2+hrs before serving. Pale-yellow colored, this was perhaps the more linear & fine amongst the 3 whites ('20 P. Morey Perrieres, '20 O. Leflaive Referts) this evening. Primary nose - citrus, lemons, just a faint hint of white-flowers. Minerality abound, this had class & purity and a nice finish! Should continue to improve given more cellar age. |

6/8/2023 - etyc Likes this wine: NRDecanted for ~3-hrs before serving. Coming after an earlier Gangloff Condrieu, this (at first) didn't seem as floral (it was cold too, with the Voss btl coming out of the ice-bucket). There was also notes of guava when we first tasted the wine. As it sat in the glass thr' the evening, with more extensive air exposure, it started gaining more precision, clarity & depth/weight (fruit) with a slight velvety textural feel. Perhaps more amazing was the bouquet as it got more & more floral, on par or even exceeding the Gangloff. On hindsight, I should've decanted the wine even earlier. None came close to guessing Chenin nor South-African. Mission-accomplished for this ABC (Anything but Chardonnay) theme'd session. Definitely a wine to buy/drink again! |

1/4/2024 - etyc Likes this wine: NRPnP'ed, nosed of reduction, match-stick, sesame with a bit of flint too. Got better as it warmed up. Discernible oak/vanilla notes on the palate with notes of citrus at first, then peaches/white-fruits as it warmed up. I believe this will improve with time (given evolution in glass), but at its (purchase) value, I fear that the entire case will be drank through in no time... |

11/12/2023 - etyc Likes this wine: NRPnP'ed at home, whilst watching the Sinner-Tsitsipas Nitto-finals match-up. Tropical-fruits bouquet, with apples, peaches, lemons & a tinge of kerosene. Mineral mouthfeel, with good concentration/depth culminating in a long finish. Just delicious! |

2020 Olivier Leflaive Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru Sous le Dos d'ÂneChardonnay more |
4/26/2024 - etyc Likes this wine: NRBlinded. This was paired side-by-side the '20 O. Leflaive Champ Gain. Served cold, this took a while to open up. Both wines seemed to have the same maker signature (or perhaps it was also the similar vintage at play). Citrusy nose initially, with more reductive notes of struck match, toast, sesame wafting forth as it aired in the glass. On the palate this showed more of that "salty" minerality as opposed to the Champ Gain. Both had very good mouthfeel, with a slight tinge of that "oily" texture. A very nice start to our dinner! |

4/26/2024 - etyc Likes this wine: NRBlinded alongside the Sous le Dos d'Âne, this showed/nosed more Puligny (w/ white florals coming to the fore after airing in glass). Had the domaine & appellation correct but the vintage wrong for both. 😂 Similarly (slight oily) textured, this was also slightly more layered with seemingly (just) a bit more extract/concentration. Again, a very delicious & enjoyable start to the evening! |

5/20/2022 - etyc Likes this wine: NRDinner at Huat Kee. This was decanted for ~3-hrs, and blinded (in a Burg btl). Funnily enough, one of our dinner/wine companions blinded another white-Burg in a Kumeu btl... Anyway, this started cold, not giving away much 'cept for perhaps a bit of reductive matchstick/flint. Asked dinner companions to pour it into a larger Burg glass (Riedel Pinot-type), and wait while we progressed to savour our other wines. With time/air, and another degree (or so) of warmth, this started opening up to reveal nice scents of white flowers & peaches. Lime/citrus on the palate, this presented itself in a linear manner but also gained amplitude/energy as it got more air/time through the dinner. Already a delicious wine with a lengthy finish, this will no doubt improve further with more bottle-age! |

8/31/2023 - etyc Likes this wine: NRPnP'ed. Another great Chard in its own right - very, very different from the '19 Boillot CC that I had on Tue. Notes of apples, lemons, and cream rose slowly from the glass in bits. Nice concentration & weight with good minerality on the palate, but coiled with tension making it exude a sense of calmness with almost a zen feel. Paired well with the fried egg-yolk fish-skin & lobster, this will no doubt improve with more bottle age! |
