Also honeysuckle, anise and florals. Viscous, honey, aggressive acid. Finishes kinda funky. Guessed correctly to be Loire Chenin Blanc. |

1/1/2010 - manonthemoon wrote: 95 pointsNotes from day 2. Dark red to purple in color. Nose of lavender, mixed black berries, moist loam, some minerality. Palate had black currant, black licorice, moist loam, minerality, baker's chocolate toward the back with some more rounded tannins noticed. The finish long and the bitterness that was noticed on day 1 is not present at all. Quite a femine wine, that hid the 15.2 well, and had an excellent mouthfeel. A really impressive showing for my first QC. Hold because it improved over the time it was opened, but I will admit I was suprised at how approachable this was when first opened other than the slightly bitter tannin. 50+5+13+18+9

3/24/2010 - manonthemoon Likes this wine: 92 pointsBlind OLD WORLD GRAB BAG - Dino Restaurant (Washington, DC): Medium apple juice in color. Nose of diesel, oxidative, red apple, lacquer, smoke. Palate of older red apple, oxidative, honey, smoke, white pepper/minerality. Viscous and a nice mouth feel, was much better the first time around as when this warmed up to room temp the alcohol showed up. Loved the complexity.

Palate of apricot, minerality, little petrol funk, lanolin, white pepper. The finish is long and the balance is great for being an 8 year old Gruner. The mouthfeel is different as it comes off very coating. Interesting wine to say the least, look forward to trying some of his other wines. Will check back tomorrow to see if this changes at all. Drink. 50+5+12+16+8

4/23/2010 - manonthemoon wrote: 93 pointsHad at Joel in ATL. No formal notes. Was red with bricking with color. Nose was excellent with tons of barnyard/manure, little dried cherry, a little herb as well. Palate had dried cherry, game, barnyard earth, basil, and a little old dusty chocolate toward the end that started to emerge the longer it was open. The finish to the wine was very long , tannin was still noted, and the mouthfeel was unreal. Was really impressed by this wine and will be looking for more older vintage Musars as I think they do age well.

Nose of slight oxidation, little honey, citrus, wax, & minerality. Palate was similar with orange peel, hint of pineapple, touch of honey, wax, minerality, little white pepper. Nice mouthfeel and above average finish. Improved over the time it was open. Definately an oxidised style, but pleasant.

3/8/2010 - jahlove Likes this wine: 93 pointsWow. This wine is really singing right now. Compared with my last tasting, the oak has fully integrated (for my palate at least). Lots of chocolate and dark, dark fruit. Showing a little bit of leather that I didn't get before. Perhaps some complexity coming out with some additional age. But this is really on a plateau right now and should be there for a few years yet. But hard to imagine it getting any better. Rich, long and satisfying.

2/26/2010 - manonthemoon wrote: 88 pointsDark red to purple color. Really nice nose of red berry, dill, herb, spice. On the palate there more red fruit, raspberry, cherry, spice and ALCOHOL. Correctly guessed Cali because of the heat. Really disappointing with the sticker on this wine, I guess WS had it right for a change. (88)

5/19/2010 - Vinsant wrote: 94 pointsMy first Cameron...definitely not my last. Maybe my fav domestic Chard yet. Chablis-like nervousness and brightness. But, also the depth and heaviness of a white Burg. Apple. pineapple, lemon, minerals, nuts, and chalk. Nice acidity and a long impressive finish. Cried out for cheese.

You probably want to either decant this bottle or enjoy over multiple days. I would also reccommend ensuring it is under room temp so that the alcohol doesn't start to show.
