Very tasty, but very much on the richer side of pinot. Blueberry and black raspberry aromas. Rich mouthfeel and heavier palate that could use a lighter, more acidic touch. Good.

{375ml} A far cry from Eric's note in 2004, this has turned out beautifully. (blind tasted) Obviously Gewurz, but from where? Never mind, it doesn't matter, this is really engaging, wonderfully scented and evenly textured. My only nit is the acidity, a little low, but with the proper cheese/dessert, it's a small thing that would likely be overlooked/forgiven. Lychee, peach, and wet stone, with some perfumed floral accents. Great color still, though time to drink, now and for the next few years. 82% Oregon, 18% WA fruit, with 16% r/s by weight. 12,0% abv.

Notes after following over two nights open. Medium ruby color, clear and sound, no sediment or sign of age. Floral and red-fruity aroma, some woody notes that blew off with air. This is bigger and more Cali-like than anything I've had from OR before, and in a Cali-like vein, it tastes a lot like Cab Sauv minus the tannins. It sure has all the ripe heat. Enjoyable enough, if I'm not really in the mood for Pinot ;)

Tasted over two days, alongside the same vintage 'Volcanic' on the first day. Found this the more interesting of the two, more earthy and precise. On the second day though, it turned heavily fruity and oaky, which made me wonder if the 'Volcanic' would have been more interesting on the second day. Overall, the oak treatment drowns out the terroir. 90-91.

Lots of verve and an x-factor. Spicy fruits with some smokey notes, embered forest floor with some citrus peel and zest.

Not often do you taste a wine that blows away every frame of reference for place/grape that you have, but that also dazzles you completely. But this is that wine. Great body and nervy acidity with white nectarine, grapefruit, sweet basil and cloves. Very much in the same lane as Rochioli SB out of California which I worship. Never expected a wine like this from Oregon!

Twisted and poured, consumed over 2 hours with some left for night two. Nose shows dark red fruits, olive brine, smoky meat. Palate leans more on the smoky meat side over blue/black fruits and pepper. Ample tannins draw out the finish for 30+ seconds. Will try to revisit note on night number two.

Taste OR & WA Wines (San Diego Wine Co.): 78% Syrah, 15% Mourvedre, & 7% Grenache

N: SMOKE/toast atop RIPE berries

P: Med body; RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt (approaching threshold R.S.?) met by the barest hint of astringent pucker which pretty much works itself out by the LONG, balanced finish with a tangy/swtness to the MINIMAL, unoffensive, dusty tannins. Nicely done for now & through '21. 14.2% ABV; My VG+/EXC-, the higher arguably for the QPR of this vendor's $14.99, which is $4.35 < the lower of wine-searcher's 2 postings.

Ripe and bright black fruits and raspberry complemented by minerality, smokey, earthy, savory, metallic, and herbal notes. Drinking well now with good acidity.

3/9/2018 - cuffthis Likes this wine: 89 points

Translucent ruby in color, this wine reveals noticeable funk on the nose which subtly fades to reveal spices, pomegranate and spice cake. The mouth feel is medium bodied with more spices and raspberry elements. The finish is tight and reluctant to fully integrate the fruit and acidity. 14.1% abv.

Purchased for $20US, this is a complex, funky offering that appears to just now be entering its prime drinking window. I'd love to taste this again in 2+ years.

Nose: Dirt and funk, earth, a little green, and a kind of lavender/soapy smelling note as well. Taste: Approach actually has a profound meat note. Like a sweet cranberry cocktail and minerality on the transition. Finish is moderate, if a little bitter with maybe some herbs/ almost like very veiny blue cheese. Tannins are very soft/barely there, I would drink soon.

This was opened 24 hours prior to my tasting. Very nice Oregon pinot. Well balanced with enough complexity and length of finish to really satisfy.

Decanted about 30 mins. Very dark color. Promising nose of strawberry and cherry with some earth and spice notes, but that was about as complex as it got. Ripe red fruits on the palate, relatively simple. I liked it less the longer it was open, and it picked up a bitterness on the finish over time.

I picked up a cherry cola aroma and a pretty good dose of alcohol on the nose. The palate was light with some red fruit flavors but a quick finish. I wasn't overly impressed but also wouldn't turn it down. It is serviceable but seems to deteriorate with time, so drink up quick.

Certainly too young, but I thought I'd pop open my first bottle of six. Ripe black cherry and berry throughout with baking spice, this comes across as slightly sweet for right now, but should brighten up as it loses baby fat. Good now, but 90+ point potential, 2022 forward.

Ruby in color with aromas of cherry, cranberry, red currant, and oak. Picked it up from a recommendation. Surprisingly enjoyable with bright fruit. Cherry, red currant, and slight raspberry with vanilla. Low tannins but still enjoyable for a entry level wine, there’s a cab quality to it more than a Pinot.

Finishing up my second case of this. As noted by others richly flavored GSM blend with black pepper, smoke, olives, has mellowed a bit with time but still great QPR. Off the shelves for some time but I would buy more if I could. Have served with pulled pork, chili, meats off the grill and a crowd favorite. Well done Andrew Rich.
