Tasted after a one hour double decant/double Vinturi. Disappointing. Exhibits the rumored poor traits of the '11 vintage. Lacks expected Napa fruit. Very green.

$25 after discount from Cameron Hughes. Very good at this price point. If you can pick up at Costco cheaper, all the better. Fruit forward with good tannic structure. Lots of blueberry. Slightly thin.

What a disappointment. I am a big fan of the vintage and varietal and just recently returned from a visit to Pride. However, this bottle was beyond disappointing. PNP. Earth and barnyard jumped out of the glass at me. I thought I was in Bordeaux for a minute. My group of four turned their noses up at this and it ended up getting poured down the drain. Given that, I do not have more detailed tasting notes.

Ran through vinturi and left in decanter for about an hour. I was really excited to try this given my affinity for Howell Mountain juice. However, this simply underwhelmed for the price. Perhaps this is simply too young and needs more bottle timeand/or decanting.

Better than expected for 20 year old wine (drank in 2013). Popped, decanted and immediately poured. Soft tannins and fading fruit. Slight bricking on the edges.

Popped and poured. Lots of blue fruits. Smooth tannins for a young wine. Dark plum color. Significant sediment in all bottles. I would recommend holding other bottles for another year or so as it seems as if it is in a disjointed phase right now.

The 2005 vintage is much better than this effort. I recall the '05 having a good balance of fruit and dust and ended up being my favorite while visiting the winery. However, the 2006 has way too much Rutherford for me. The wine is flat and never developed with hours of decanting. Most will like it, but if not a fan of "the dust ", then move on.

Triple decanted through vinturi as we were ready to try immediately. The typical cab franc profile is apparent on the nose. There is significant "bite" to this vintage that is perhaps related to the higher acid profile. Although I enjoyed it now, I plan to wait on the rest of my '09s.

14 hour slow-ox at 55 degrees. Stewed prunes on the nose and front palate. Soft tannins as expected from DP. Lacks the bright red and blue fruits that i expected from the vintage. I agree with Cristal2000's review below.

7/31/2011 - bigdomer wrote: 89 points

I found this to be an incredible value on a local restaurant's wine list. With sufficient air, one can easily detect the Howell Mountain pedigree of these grapes. Expected alcohol burn from zins was muted in this wine. Tannin structure is solid. While not the best Howell Zin I have had, it is still a good effort.
