More than we had a right to expect for a 23 year old wine from an iffy year (the year we were married). Slightly tart at first, but that improved. Tannins were silky to barely noticeable. Bricking red color. More cherry and cassis fruit than I expected. Decanted after the cork crumbled into the wine. Paired well with filets.

Better than expected for 20 year old wine (drank in 2013). Popped, decanted and immediately poured. Soft tannins and fading fruit. Slight bricking on the edges.

At its peak, will hold for a few years. Classic Cali cab, still enough fine tannins to balance the now-fading but still opulent fruit. Balanced. Flavors of black tea, red cherries, blackberries.

Mature, mellow with a center note of strong purple fruit. Some fine dusty tannins and a long fine dusty finish. More complex than the 2003 and enough structure to keep it alive for a while, but the fruit is fully mature and I don't see this getting any better. Not simple, not complex. Lacks magic. B

Really nice. In very good shape for a Cali cab of this age. Still plenty of fruit and structure left. Real complexity. I purchased a mixed case of California 1993 cabs recently. So far I have drunk 4 of them and this is the first own I would like to find more of. I have been told by a friend that this wine was quite hard when it was young. I guess it really needed to age.
