Eyes Wide Shut - Day 2 (A quiet place): Nose: Spiced and red fruited confectionery with a light touch of vegetal notes.

Palate: Soft red fruits, along with soft forest floor, and gentle berries providing a lightness to the wine.

This was pleasantly soft, given the number of big boys everyone's been tasting. I was curious if given the time, would this have gained more weight or continued on with its softer style. I will never know sadly.

Nicely balanced SLD Cab, drinking very well. Continued to improve as evening progressed so extended decant is recommended.

Might take of it is that Cliff lady decided to use their stags leap cab in a rebranded more expensive bottle. Disappointing.

Deep purple color with slow legs. Smokey nose of toasted oak, black berry and cassis. Plum, blackberry tobacco leaf and anise on the palate. Long leathery finish. Should improve with age.

Wine remain very tight. Decanted for 7 hours prior to serving and completed the bottle on day two after an evening vacuum seal before opening the 2nd day. I was expecting this to be more approachable but it still needs time. It is lovely but just a bit tight still

Final of 3 bottles, it's been 4 years since I last had this wine. 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc.
I must say, at 17 yrs of age, this Cab blend is delicious , showing a velvety texture and mouthfeel, with notes of black plums, blueberry syrup, mocha, and a hint of refreshing peppermint.
The tannins are resolving but provide good structure, and the acidity is ample for a bold Napa Cabernet. Still very good and will likely continue to drink well for another 4-5 yrs.

I tasted this back at the winery last May, so no formal notes. Given that a rock block series was not made in 2020, the winemakers came up with this unique blend, using selections from the rock block vineyards from 2019. This is a unique wine for Lede, in that 60% of the final blend comes from a co-fermentation of malbec/cabernet, then with addition of more cab and petit verdot. This only saw 20% new oak. If I remember correctly, malbec is the predominant varietal here.
This is a juicy smooth blend with explosive fruits, mostly red/black. It was only made available to club members and sold at the winery

Decanted for about an hour. Cork didn’t survive opening. Very little sediment. Still good acidity though so plenty of life left. Tannins well integrated. Still plenty of fruit. Glad I finally opened this bottle.

Very similar to my first review, just a bit more rounded on the edges. Love the dryness and ripeness, great terroir. Long finish. This is well worth the extra cash compared to the base Stag's Leap offering.

Decanted off of fine grained sediment for 2 hours before placement back in the bottle for serving.

Concentrated and crystal clear. Showing just a touch of age.

Leaping from the decanter as it's poured from the bottle. Complete.

Supple and powerful at the same time. Perfect? Surely very close.

Overall, this may one of the best Napa wines I've ever tasted. At the right place 10 years plus from vintage.

Early front runner for wine of the year.

Dark purple in the glass. Nice dark fruit profile. Tannins a bit strong at this point. Medium finish. Will likely gain a point in a few years when tannins settle a bit.

Aromatics are clean and filled with tropical and stone fruit notes. The Sémillon in the blend shows with beeswax and some melon qualities as well.
Seamless on the plate with full body, med acid, and low tannin.
This wine is remarklable! The fruit is pure and delicious. But the best part is the finish. It just keeps going. Outrageously good white wine and impressive intensity for 12.8 alcohol. Wow!
