10/19/2019 - kwn70 Likes this wine: 91 pointsInteresting wine! Slight purple hue. Notes of black pepper beef jerky, red fruits, leather, rose petals and a touch of baking spice. Fairly light on its feet. Nice acid too. |

2/9/2019 - kwn70 wrote: 89 pointsStill a bit harsh and in your face, which I found strange since this is supposed to be the Alban that’s more approachable in its youth. Inky with a bit of alcohol out of the gates. This smoothed out with some air, but still not super impressive or unique. 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

2015 Myriad Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III VineyardRutherford more |
12/31/2018 - kwn70 Likes this wine: 93 pointsDecided to give this a shot for New Year's Eve. Really smooth upon opening. I was pretty excited at that point and let it decant for another couple hours. IMO, this is still quite young. Even following the decant, the wine didn't evolve a whole lot. Quite a bit of grip from the tannin and the fruit notes were pretty primary. This hasn't quite come together enough to score it much higher. A tasty bottle nonetheless, I was just expecting more based on some of the previous scores and comments. |

11/10/2018 - kwn70 Likes this wine: 92 pointsI didn't enjoy this as much as the 2010 vintage I had in July of 2017, but it's still enjoyable. I agree with previous comments that there is still some heat on the finish and needs some time to fully integrate. Needs another couple years. |

10/5/2018 - kwn70 Likes this wine: 93 pointsTasted blind. Nice oak and vanilla nose. Could tell that it was going to be a smooth wine. I really enjoyed the weight and viscosity. This was a smooth drinker that stood on its own just fine. Really enjoyable! |

2010 Betz Family Clos de BetzColumbia Valley Red Bordeaux Blend more |
10/5/2018 - kwn70 Does not like this wine: 86 pointsStarting to show some age on the nose, which seemed strange being a Betz. This was a little thin for my preference and wasn't showing a whole lot of fruit. Fairly acidic back end and a raisiny finish. 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

2012 Cayuse Syrah Armada VineyardWalla Walla Valley more |
8/19/2018 - kwn70 wrote: 91 pointsI recall liking the Armada syrah in the past. Gave this a couple hour decant. Fairly light in color and weight. For me the nose was dominated by red pepper and Cayuse funk. The palate was typical Cayuse flavors, but it too was light/thin. I've noticed more sourness with the Cayuse/Horsepower wines I've had recently as well. Likely a change of taste... I can't justify $80+ for this any more. |

2/23/2018 - kwn70 Likes this wine: 94 pointsDrinking really well right now! Nice, ripe blue fruit on the front end, brought home with plenty of grip on the back end. This will undoubtedly go the distance...if I don't drink my remaining three bottles first. |

2015 Myriad Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valleymore |
12/24/2017 - kwn70 Likes this wine: 94 pointsMy first Myriad and it delivered as expected. Out of the bottle it was approachable and would have done just fine as a PNP. Decanted for three hours and it was singing nicely when dinner was plated. The purity of red and blue fruits was great and the rich texture was fantastic. Having a wine like this available at the current price point makes me really happy. |

2012 No Girls SyrahWalla Walla Valley more |
12/24/2017 - kwn70 Likes this wine: 92 pointsUpon opening there was quite a bit of pot roast and salinity on the nose. This mellowed out a bit and "sweetened" after a couple hours in the decanter. The beef transitioned to Serrano ham both in flavor and its slightly briney, saline finish. While consistently well made, I think I've concluded that this syrah is on the lighter side of what I ultimately prefer. |

2015 Quilceda Creek CVR Columbia ValleyRed Bordeaux Blend more |
11/25/2017 - kwn70 Likes this wine: 91 pointsDark ruby red and a hint of sediment. Nice red fruits on the nose with a touch of oak and incense. More red and blue fruits on the palate. Pretty well integrated with smooth tannins considering it's youth. Not super complex though. Consistent notes on night 1 and night 2. |

2015 Renegade Wine Co. GrenacheWalla Walla Valley more |
11/19/2017 - kwn70 Does not like this wine: 75 pointsWas hoping this was going to as good a value as the previous vintages. Was bitter and sour upon opening. Double decanted to try and get something going. An hour in, got a little baking spice on the nose. Touch of fruit on the palate. After 2.5 hours the nose muted and the finish was quick. A little tannin emerged. |

2010 Lillian Winery SyrahSanta Barbara County more |
7/9/2017 - kwn70 Likes this wine: 95 pointsConsistent experience with my last from 8/2014. However, I think this has improved and was the wine of the night among other really tasty wines from around the world. I knew this was going to deliver, as Maggie's wines always do, but this was extra special. 4 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

2010 Leonetti Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon Walla Walla Valleymore |
6/4/2017 - kwn70 wrote: 92 pointsSimilar to mclancy10006, there was a bit of (unexpected) brett upon opening. Lots of sediment too. The brett seemed to blow off upon decanting and the wine started hitting it's stride a couple hours in (on the last glass). Paired nicley with my short ribs. |

2011 Cayuse The LoversWalla Walla Valley Red Blend more |
3/5/2017 - kwn70 Likes this wine: 93 pointsTook about a half hour for this to start opening up and showing some fruit. Still very light for a Cab/Syrah. My wife (who is not a huge consumer of reds) enjoyed it because it was delicate and balanced. Didn't have any Cayuse funk either. Would be fun to taste this blind against a rich CA pinot like KB! Looking forward to seeking how the (much warmer) 2012 vintage shows... |
