I still appreciate the rusticity here and it is not completely devoid of fruit and there are some nice dried fruit/prune elements, but mostly this tastes of rusty nails and decaying leaves, perhaps soaked in bull's blood. Tastes like a Cahors from last century. |

8/16/2021 - Head4Heights Likes this wine: 90 points45mm natural cork enclosure. Med(+) intensity nose yielding spice, vanilla, leather, sweet dark fruit, cherry, cassis, cedar. Dark garnet colour. On the palate it’s med(+) body delivering pronounced intensity, high tannin, high acidity and a decent fruit driven finish. After 24hours it went a little downhill, but this is no £50 bottle of wine. The grape Carignano is better known as Mazuelo, Carignan or Bovale Grande. Sardinians are often unaware that the blends of Bovale and Carignano are, er, not blends. Hey ho. Old vines tame this prolific grape. |

Tastes of cherry and other dark berries, cedar and the herbs are thyme, rosmary and such. Well integrated tannins and lasts long. Pretty interesting to see how this develops, I would recommend trying a bottle in 3-4 years to see if it has kept the berries or not. If it is doing well then, I would probably let the rest of the bottles lie up to 8-10 years. Likely a fun wine to follow as it ages. |

Quite a strong nose, of ripe cherry and cranberry, some pepper, and a hint of cloves. Strong bitey tannins, with ripe blackberry, cherry, pepper, cloves, nutmeg, dried grass, rose, tar and pencil shavings. Lots of alcohol heat at the back, and the finish seems tannin and alcohol driven, still with berries and herbs. Quite some power there |
