Brick red colour with a mature nose showing forest floor, barnyard, leather, and fresh herbs in a delicious way. Fully evolved tannins on the acidic palate focused on dried fruit and liquorice in a very nice and pleasant way. Need time in the decanter and glass to open up, showing a more smoothing palate with a dampened acidity giving way for more fruitful notes. (Best 2006-2021) Do you find this review helpful? Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, strawberries & mulberries with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes, herbs & a hint of cedar in the background. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, plums & strawberries with herbs & minerals. Lingering finish. Recent auction purchase. Incredibly hard and tight cork - it took a large amount of brute force to squeeze the Ah-So blades in. In any case, the cork came out Ok in one piece. I immediately noticed the color was a very youthful ruby with no sign of bricking at all. I poured my wife a glass blind and she immediately said heavy vanilla and thought recent vintage Napa Cabernet. What?!?! Indeed, this was very youthful, with impressive density, loaded with high-quality oak notes - vanilla, leather, and a deep core of fruit. Good balance as well. Seemed a little wound up and needed some air to unfurl. I'm not a fan of overwrought oak, but I found this to be really nice and very intriguing. Despite my wife's impressions, I found this to be very Chianti Classico tasting. An amazing CCR that is not anywhere close to falling off. Overall: good wine with good QPR (paid $40) Nose: fresh raspberries, melted semi-sweet chocolate, then dried mushrooms, bell peppers, and oak like a clean butcher block. Taste: juicy raspberries burst in your mouth and then remain on the finish with the medium gentle tannins and oak pulling at your gums. The fruit is fresh and dark, but no elements of tar or leather. This is all fresh fruit and wood. Nothing dried. The acidity is medium-high. Complexity is medium and I am not envisioning more showing with time. There’s not a lot to smooth out.
