It continues to retain all of the features that attracted me to it, which ironically I also tasted blind when I first discovered it a few years ago. It still has the rocky, sea air aromatic, reminding me yet again of Chablis. Even the palate seems Chablisienne, with mineral, lemon, bright acidity, melon and green apple. Medium weight, with plenty off grip and acidity into the finish. What a stellar wine for less than 30 bucks. A final bravo to Girardet for making this gem. PS...11.6% alcohol. Amazing. |

8/4/2020 - A6Rover Likes this wine: 92 pointsFresh, lively, and mineral-driven Chardonnay from a somewhat obscure region of Oregon. The wine is lightly (and pleasantly) reductive with lemony long finish. Has a very good quality-price ratio going for it. |

Has the same stalky note in the aromatic, along with a lift of fragrant red fruit. This bottle shows a leather note, akin to something I might think of as Mourvedre. The red fruit is juicy cherry, along with some blueberry and a good burst of watermelon that flavors the finish. The acidity gives the finish a good lift. I'd be stumped if this was poured blind to me, as I'd be guessing all over the board as to what it is. A fun wine with lots of approachable flavors and expressive fruit. |

12/3/2019 - Frank Murray III wrote: NRThis bottle was a gift from Marc Girardet from my visit in June 2019. My Dad and I had made a trip out to the winery to visit, as I was looking to see if they had any more of the 2015 for sale. That vintage for this wine was/is outstanding and while I wasn't able to buy anymore of the 2015, Marc went into the back of the winery and returned with the 2011 in hand as a gift. It was the very first vintage of Seyval Blanc from the Estate that he had made, and I was fortunate for his kindness. I've held onto this bottle of the 2011 and found reason tonight to open it in support of David Bueker's challenge on Wine Berserkers to talk about Oregon wines. So, what's here in the 2011? This is beautiful. Aromatically floral, it's a real gem to smell in the glass. The palate offers a mix of green banana, grapefruit, lemon curd, and the same slate/flint feel of the 2015's texture. The acidity here in the 2011 resembles the energy of the 2015, with the lemony quality really lifting the wine, alongside a bit of honeysuckle. What a treat to drink this, and knowing how it's showing tonight, I wonder if I can track down some more and pour it blind for our wine group. Frigging awesome. |

Very juicy, veering into a blue fruited palate, with some herb, medium weight, blueberry skin and terrific acidity. For $34, this is pretty damn good. |

6/10/2019 - Frank Murray III wrote: NRTasted at the winery. 12.7%. This is the wine that allowed me to discover Girardet back in June 2017. On the visit that day to the winery, I knew nothing about their wines or what to expect. On that day we visited, I discovered the 2015 version of this wine, which I bought and took home with me, then I later bought more and had it shipped down the coast to my place in Orange County. Damn, that wine was and is amazing, and I was hoping they had more as I was intent to reload more of it and haul it back on the plane with me. However, on visiting the winery this past weekend, I was told it was sold out. However, the owner and winemaker, Marc Girardet, gifted me a bottle of his 2011 to take home, which was the first vintage he ever made of the Seyval Blanc. Cool gesture and gracious of him. We did during our visit try the 2016. 12.7% ABV. It seems a little bubbly, just a small amount of dissolved CO2, so I asked the tasting room person to give it a light shake. The texture on the 2016 is silky, more polished as compared to the more racy and stony 2015. I also found riper and more ready to drink, as opposed to the energy and intensity of the 2015. Ultimately, while I liked the 2016, it didn't rise to the heights of the 2015. |
