Nose: lovely richness and finesse - stone fruit (peach, apricot). Palate: great. Balance of acidity and fruit, again delicate stone fruit with a good depth and length. Delicious.

Holy moly! This is a bomb of a wine. Where do I start? This is a total gym rat of a Cornas, with power and chewy toughness forming the frame for ripe black fruit flavors punching their way through the palate, so much so that you physically have to chew yourself a sip of this wine. This is a meat lover’s wine. Animalistic. Tannins, acidity, alcohol - all in balance. Drink now or hold for 20 years. I’ll be saving up for a case of this, no doubt in my mind. Bloody delicious.

Wine Spectator Grand Tour (Las Vegas, NV): Colombo's 2020 Cornas Les Ruchets is a deep ruby Syrah that flaunts scents of wild berries, dark plums, rosemary, black olives, white pepper and a hint of smoke. Medium-to-full-bodied, freshly acidic and without alcoholic heat (14.5%), it delivers flavors in line with the aromas, adding a thread of iron on the mid-palate. Even at this early stage, the wine's oak and plush tannins make for a silky-textured drinking experience, ultimately concluding with a lengthy smooth finish. Beautifully crafted, this will provide plenty of pleasure over the upcoming years. Drink now-2035.

Popped and poured. Nose of raspberry, red cherry, underbrush and spice. Raspberry, cherry, spice and ripe tannins on the palate. Finishes with good persistence. Medium bodied. A good QPR. Served with mortadella and provolone sandwiches.

WS Grand Tour (Walkaround Tasting) (New Orleans): A favorite of this in older vintages, Inwas impressed with how great this is now. A fruit forward, polished and modern style of Syrah, but with a complex nose of blackberries, herbs and savory.
A buy or a good restaurant choice.

This could really use an hour or two decant, but was tasted as a PNP. The winery notes blackberry, garrigue, and warm fig (and I agree). Very smooth, dry palate. Full, medium intensity tannins on the longish finish.

Tasted this at Wine Spectator’s Grand Tour in New Orleans. I’ve not had many Cornas. It was on DQ’s must try list. This was very nice.

1.5L Magnum, opening with great anticipation. On the PNP I'm getting the grassy, vegetal notes I often taste in a pinot noir, so it's unusual to find this in a Syrah. I'm wondering how this will develop over the next few hours?

I opened this before my wife announced we were having chicken parm, and now I'm thinking it was a great pair(especially over typical Syrah!)...so we'll see where this goes. It's a light purple color and there are tart cherries and pepper present. I'm sensing a medium finish and the acidity is good. 13.5% ABV, and no heat, very subtle.

I'm not rating this with a number - if I did it would be under 90. I need some help. I've had hundreds of American syrahs, and lots of southern rhone, but probably less than two dozen northern rhones.......
One hour in glass. After first nose and taste, I waited another hour..
Minimal nose - tad bit of bramble, licorice and black currant.
Palette -
More green herbs than bramble. Hint of licorice, small bit of pepper. Starts savory, savory builds, and then it turns to weak, semi-tart/sour fruit.
I'm not really a fruit bomb guy (more Rocks District) - so I'm wondering what I'm reading in the other notes when I read about "power" and "beast". This is 10 years old - do I need to wait another 10?
Not trying to tick people off - and it's not like it isn't pleasurable particularly with food - but this certainly has minimal power - and even the subtleties are ok, but not "special" or worth the $$ for me. Should I wait on the other bottle?

Fading but in a nice spot. Lots of minerality, white flowers and stone fruit. Great structure. Tropical on the nose. Nice bitterness that is great with richer food.
