Deep purple red color. Black cherries, blackberries, black currants, licorice, and chocolate in the nose with hints of espresso and minerals. Rich concentrated fruit in the flavor,, black currants, black currants and plums. Complex, well balanced, full bodied and a long, lingering finish.

Day 3: Another great day 3 bottle with menthol, mild funk, plum, blueberries, dark chocolate and spices. A touch of oak on the finish. Super complex wine and one would be fooled into thinking this is a $200 Napa Wine blind. 94 points
Recommendation: Buy for under $50 if you can find it via auction.

Outstanding deep & rich cabernet. Fully mature with dark fruit and deeply faded tannins, this wine further elevated a rich, perfectly cooked ribeye. I'm a fan of Foley wines!

Nose and palate with layers of blackberry and cassis fruit with spices and oak notes finishing with soft tannins on a long finish. Drinking beautifully!

Day 1: This is the best $25 other than result of a crush. Bought via auction and could have had two cases instead of one. Funk, gravel, plum, tobacco, menthol, cherry and earth. Right banker in disguise. 94 points
Day 2: Holding form nicely. This is the best bottle of the case so far and gives great promise this wine will drink well through 2030. Menthol, funk, tobacco, sour cherry, stone, earth and smoke. Big style wine but so good. 94 points
Day 3: Over 10 years old and holding form. Wow purchase from my friends at Chicago Wine Company. Win for sure.
Recommendation: Should have bought all 3 cases instead of one.

My first Robert Foley, ever. Picked up at auction a couple of months ago so no idea how it was stored. This vintage 100% Cabernet from Veeder, Howell and Calistoga. Many of these vintages also include some Merlot and PVerdot into the mix.

Right from the pnp this one is a beauty.....dark purple in the glass, nose of cassis and blackberry. This is juicy when first opened and needs zero air. I poured a glass and put a silicone stopper right into the bottle so it would be good for dinner 2 hours later.

Since we didn't catch anything big enough for dinner on the boat today, it was a pizza night. This went very well with the meat lover's pizza. Moderate to heavy weight in the glass. Tons of plum fruit later in the evening. Primarily blackberry before that. It is extremely well balanced at this point in time. Hard to believe it's an '08. Drinks like a '13 or '14. Tons of sediment in the bottle, so decant!

Solid on day 3 but not as good as the first bottle of four. Menthol, dark cherries, plum, dark chocolate and spices. A powerful wine and medium plus finish. Very enjoyable and for $80 a bottle not a bad deal.

Smooth, balanced yet strong right out of the bottle. This can age longer than 2025.
Mild but notable tannins. Over a few hours the tannins faded away
Fruit is of good character but not overpowering .
Excellent wine

Day 2: Really more open for business and tastes like a much more expensive wine. Dark cherry, oak, plum, dark chocolate, tobacco, minerals, rose petals and earth. Concentrated wine and super long finish. A wonderful experience. 95 points
Recommendation: Outstanding value if you can get via auction for under $100.

Tom & Bruna's Wine Tasting (Edina, MN): So the hosts liked this better than us other 3 but I like both for different reasons. This is a bigger style but some modern Bordeaux character. Tobacco, oak, funk, cherry, blue fruits, spice and earth. Long finish and concentrated. Again outstanding.

Day 2: Wow! This tastes like a $200 Cabernet not a $50 Merlot which it is about the retail. Oak, dark cherries, spices, coffee beans, menthol, dust, tobacco and earth. Super concentrated effort and off the charts on the value. 94 points
Day 3: Still has some nice characteristics but pales in comparison of day 1/2. 89 points
Recommendation: This will drink well through 2028 for sure.

Pnp from a 375. Lather, rinse, repeat. Dark fruit still has some front palate bite, indicating this is nowhere near the end of its life after downing 18 full and half bottles of this. So easy to drink......

very concentrated...like most of Robert Foley's stuff. Needs an hour + decant to really open...probably 2. deep purple core with a brownish edge that turns purple with air. a bit out of balance upon first sip...tons of bluefruits, brambleberries, spice and syrupy. after another hour or so...it really feels lighter and better integrated. Very rich that paired well with BGE ribeyes. Blueberries, Blackberries, Raspberries, spice, graphite...long long finish.
