First it did not show at all its age and felt at the beginning of its journey. Light, pale colour. Bergamot and caramel butter. It got more complex as the evening wore on. WOTN for most, marginally ahead of the Collin 08. Much less evolved than the latter. This drinks well now but I see this may move up a gear or two to maximum expression in the next 10 years. |

Enjoyed over 3 or 4 hours without chilling. We tasted a lot of Burgundy wines that night and this was undoubtedly a standout. |

The palate is very elegant, with just the right amount of acidity - I would say medium - nice, refined mousse, brioche, lemon peel, basil too I would say; this is very young still, still primary overall and with full body and white pepper balanced by the nice, oaky ending. The reductive nose is intense, while the palate is absolutely elegant. This will last for 2 decades and will likely improve quite a bit, but it's an outstanding, gorgeous wine already. |

Very small bubbles on this beautifully colored and rather youthful Salon Champagne! The entry was still rather youthful and somewhat tart pear, green apple, and white peach flesh. Reductive style. Sort of made you pucker a little bit at first, but then this just explodes into a bouquet of fruits and wildflowers, lemon oil, a little herb foccacia, rosemary, white pepper and fennel. If I drank this even somewhat regularly, I'm rather certain I could probably nail this every time as it is just so unique but definitely not your daily or even quarterly drinker! Enjoyed with an 08 Piper Rare which was quite a bit different but really balanced out the playing field no doubt. A great Champagne as these are always a treat when they are served. |
