The nose is a bit muted, yet still shows plenty w/ honeysuckle, chamomile, ripe yellow apple, ripe pear, white peach, yogurt & under-ripe pineapple. Barely off-dry, but the 25g/L of RS is nicely balanced by the med to med (+) acidity. The alcohol is med (-) at 11.5%. The palate is consistent with the nose, but citrusy, juicy bitter lemon and lime predominate at first, leading to a med (+) to long finish with a mineral streak. This is a really well-balanced, creamy, smooth bubbly, which is great by itself or as an accompaniment to savory appetizers, spicy foods or elegant, not overly sweet fruit-based desserts. Still, I question whether it's worth the 300% premium over the regular Valdobbiadene Superiore DOCG. |

It is bottled with no dosage thanks to the excellent ripeness of the fruit. Med gold with fine but muted perlage. Med (+) aromas of yellow apple, pear, white flowers, herbs, complicated by caramel, toasted bread notes. Bone dry, with med (+) to high acidity and a slight phenolic bitterness on the finish. Med. alcohol (12.5%). Med (+) flavor intensity and length. A very unique and elegant expression of Cartizze fruit, it is a unicorn, limited production, atypical product, hence the luxury price point. Still drinking well at 8+ years, but not likely to improve with further aging. |

Creamy nose. prosecco is not supposed to have any residual yeast. Nevertheless, i taste yeast as well as hints of citrus on the palate. Still has some acidity holding things together. Tiny and persistent bubbles. A very traditional sparkler. I am still surprised that there aren't more CT members enjoying this wine. will attend to remaining bottles next new year's eve. |
