3/27/2024 - NMSteve Likes this wine: NRRestrained for CA pinot in the sense of having fruit depth rather than fruit in the foreground, plenty of deep cherry, raspberry fruit with herbality and chewy texture. Seems rustic. Made me think of Givry (??) but I really think I’d have a hard time correctly identifying this as from CA if served blind. Interesting, very good, 4- (out of 5). |

3/27/2024 - NMSteve Likes this wine: NRMedium ruby, very forward Nebbiolo character on nose and palate, maybe more so the latter, but with plenty of structure. Very pungent on the nose with more cherry and tarry/tannic grip on the palate. Cherry, bay leaf, tobacco/cigar, cherry pit. Grippy tannins, well structured, but tannins tending towards bitterness with some tar and leather interest. Day 2 it was pretty much the same. Should be good for years. Excellent, 4 (out of 5). |

2/4/2024 - ex-sommelier Likes this wine: NRThis is in a good place for my taste, better on day 2. Green herbs and spiced dark cherry, leather, lots of tart berry fruit with a hint of smoke. Still a bit of tannic bite on the finish and a hint of polish. No rush. |

8/1/2023 - ericindc Likes this wine: 89 pointsThis is a really great QPR glou glou food wine. 3rd bottle of 6. Just great with any food you throw at it. Pizza, pasta, calzone.... and any other red meat dishes that arent too heavy. Great fruit, good acidity, and solid tannic (but not too tannnic spine). really in the zone. |

4/19/2023 - LotionInTheBasket Likes this wine: NRThoroughly enjoyed this, well done effort. Pouring it in the glass you can see it is lighter in body and swirls the same but just super opaque and seems dense, and its not. Deep, dark ruby, left it out for an hour to breathe. It kinda needed it. The nose is cherry, dried roses, light green herbiness, vanilla, wafts of menthol in there. Let it breathe. Lighter side of medium in body, the palate delivers with tart cherries, that <thonk> kinda tart with strong fruit pressing and balancing; strawberries towards middle, vanilla, some sweet tobacco, bright acidity, moderate tannin still a bit firm. Feel like the tannins are just calming down and giving it some balance with the lighter weight and fruit. Finish is super dry riding the cherry backbone, touch of the oily menthol thing in there. Superb effort, first bottle opened and have one left. @CABFRANCOPHILE had it right that it needed to about now to hit its stride, feels like it is there with plenty of room to run if you want to be patient. Most TNs have a similar vein for this wine comparing an reflecting on my notes. |

11/23/2021 - Coupe 60 Likes this wine: NRPnP and had with chicken dinner. Significantly different (and i think better) than the bottle i drank about 18 months ago. This had a darker fruit taste and was more rustic. Maybe some black licorice. Excellent acidity. Would definitely have guessed Italy more than Cali on this. Good value for the price... |

10/18/2021 - ex-sommelier Likes this wine: NRLots of good stuff happening here. Distinctive red fruit, very floral, some tar and spice. Structure is tight over two days with some oak notes hemming it in. Fruit is dense and a bit muddied now, but given how nicely the '14 was drinking recently, and how balanced this is, I don't think it'll need more than a couple years to really shine. Good value and still my favorite CA Nebbiolo. |

9/17/2021 - Tudz Drkl Likes this wine: NRRuby colored, orange edges and very light thin appearance. The nose was cherries and raspberries with stone dust, balsamic and floral notes. Decanted 30 minutes and bright red fruits appeared over linear acidity. Fine tannins give a full mouth experience of bright, cruu ou do and clean fruit over a medium long finish. Very delicious |

7/8/2021 - ex-sommelier Likes this wine: NRAfter a short decant this was really punching out with strawberry and lingonberry, followed by nice medicinal undertones, and the whole rosebush, bramble and flower. Snappy to taste, really pretty and punchy at the same time. Wonderful. Like a Barbaresco in weight and energy but quite distinct. |

5/4/2021 - ohne_musik wrote: 92 pointsNo brett or VA issues with this bottle. Delicious, elegant domestic Nebbiolo that wouldn’t be out of place in a line up of high performing moderately priced Barbaresco. Very old world in feel, roses and tar, good acid, focused cherry/strawberry, and earthy mineral. A hint of mint on the medium finish. Not as structured or serious as a riserva Nebbiolo but no problem going the distance for another decade or more. For the price people should be screaming on their roofs about this wine. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

2/21/2021 - LotionInTheBasket Likes this wine: NRPnP with some slight glass air time. Hazy garnet in the glass, touch of brick. Nose comes across with tart cherries, vanilla, leather. Pretty potent and forward with north of medium weight swirling in the glass. Front leads cherry, tart and acidic. Very forward. Vanilla, some herb-y spiciness mixed in with oak and light shares of vanilla. Middle mellows out a bit surprisingly. Finish is fruit riding front on acidity and tannins. Think this would be a good food wine. Acidity is mouth puckering and the heavier structure would stand up with some interesting dishes. I have some BBQ left, this would pair nicely. Nice bottle. |

Red cherry, tart cherry, earth, plum, a little graphite, herbs, and a touch of oak on the palate. A big wash of juicy acidity, firm but accessible tannins, medium finish. Ripe, a bit rustic, delicious. I really like these nebbiolo. Yeah, they probably should age a bit, but they are also quite drinkable young. I may need to buy some more. |

9/2/2020 - ericindc Likes this wine: 92 pointsQuite nice spot. Needs time in a decanter to blow off a touch of VA. This eventually blossoms into a fantastic nebbiolo. Nose was a bit reticent even after a few hours in a decanter. Did have some heat, strong red fruits and bit of earth. Taste-wise, it certainly had a strong showing of sunny California fruit (red fruits), but great leather, orange peel, mushroom and earth. Pretty balanced. Moderate tannic structure and good acidity, medium body. Drink now with 2+hr decant, or hold for a few more years. |
