If I would have sniffed this wine blind I would guess it is a classified Bordeaux from the 80‘s (like the Montrose 89 I had couple of weeks ago). Unfortunately the palate isn’t that impressive. Initially it is, beautiful fruit and balance. But then on the mid palate it stops rapidly and flows into a harsh and short finish. Overall it is enjoyable no doubt, but a bit disappointing from what it initially promised. Does this wine need some more years in the cellar to melt the tannins? I’ll drink my next bottle in 2 years. On the palate you find these black fruits again, combined with grippy tannins which are not very fine and probably never will. The medium+ body offers drinking fun with a solid but not impressive finish. This wine reached it's drinking window and will be best over the next 5 years. |
