Mostly black fruit: blackberries, some cassis, iron and salty elements. Gained on accessibility in the last 2 years.

The wine is marked by its class, elegance, and unmistakable sense of place, yet it falls short of expectations once again for me. Somewhat thin, lacking the concentration that's often abundant in wines of this caliber (2005 Epenots comes to mind). Maybe my disappointment stems from the high expectations set by the BH's 93-point rating. ¯ \_(ツ)_/¯ Lovely, nevertheless

Discovered a compromised cork - soaked all the way through, revealing some seepage. Been there, done that! As I like to say, "when the wine is good, it's good!" The seepage didn't hurt the wine a bit; perhaps it even accelerated the aging process ¯ \_(ツ)_/¯ ? This is a magical Pommard, boasting tons of complexity and enticing elegance. Magical and super lovely.

Stylistically similar to a Russian River Pinot. Bright red cherry, very fruit forward. Nice round body. Good acidity and freshness with fine tannins and a medium finish with some nice earth and nuance.

Perfect wine with a roast chicken. Still has loads of fruit while fully mature. Savory. Not particularly complex but very tasty.

More delicate than the usual powerhouse Pommard, nose is full of sauvage, forest floor and petrichor with a whiff of alcohol. After a few minutes black cherry aromas and wood become present. The palate reinforces the forest floor and wet dirt aromas. Tannins have mellowed and are supple with a nice body and a silky finish with medium length. Mid-light body with medium acidity and light tannins. Drink now after a short decant.

I think we drank a bottle of this 5 or 6 years ago and it was still closed , tannic and not ready for business. Now it is in a good place, not much on the nose but everything else fine and enjoyable. Enjoy!!

Medium ruby in the glass. Very restrained at this stage, can't taste much past the fruit profile. High acidity, green tannins, moderate alcohol. Give this time, I'm sure it will explode in a few years.

Coravin fun - Burgundy (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Pretty, creamy, slightly jubey black fruits, fruit tea and sweet spice, touch of caramel in the background, freshly tilled earth and, with time, a little tomato leaf. Juicy, medium plus intensity acidity, muted black fruits, plenty of slightly chalky textured grip, the fruit persists beneath this, long, those slight caramel and tomato leaf notes join on the finish. Getting to 'tidy-up' time...

This is an '05 which is still closed and unyielding. First the color, which is a remarkably deep ruby to plum, with only slight lightening to magenta at the rim. The nose never really showed much, though there is some notion of black raspberry and clayey earth. The palate is full and has a lot of grippy extract and acidic structure. The balance seems to be there, but this simply needs more time in the cellar.

Lovely, still quite youthful nose, ripe dark fruit, touch of meat, medium/full bodied, mouthfilling, dark fruit, fine tannins, quite full but crackling with energy, really good length.

Nine red 2006 Burgs (Noize): A darkish, brambly but well-balanced wine with a lot of oddball charm. A good weight of sweet, dark fruit, some game and forest floor, then slightly drying on the finish. One of the best reds tonight.

2006 Burgundy with a few additions (Noizé, London): Nose is restrained but some red fruits and subtle Christmas spices emerge. Palate starts tight and short but with time in the glass opens out and broadens. For me in this flight, this and the the Tollot Beaut SLB Lavieres are very close qualitatively for 20 mins but this wine pulls away.

It’s not dead yet. Less fruit. Somewhat tart. Earthy and funky. Definitely better after an hour or so. Enjoyable.

Medium ruby red, garnet rim. Quite savoury aromas on first sniff, a touch of red fruit but more of an undergrowth and wet clay character. Becomes more ‘classically Pinot-y’ with time in the glass. Nicely poised with good acidity and enough tannin to keep it feeling nice and dry. Good.

Pale ruby coloured. This has a lovely ‘Pinot nose’, with aromas of red fruits, mushrooms, undergrowth and a nice lifted floral character. Nicely balanced on the palate, lots of acidity, the tannins are still there enough to keep everything nice and dry on the finish. Reasonably linear, not a huge amount of complexity, there’s a nice spicy note (from the oak?) on the finish. Via Coravin.
