What a treat to savor and contemplate. Top notch producer and I cherished the opportunity to be able to enjoy this over several days. A lot of sediment. Better to decant or use a Port filter.

Robe rubis foncé et dense. Au nez des framboises, des cerises et une touche d'alcool. Une bouche sur les cerises et la craie. Passablement sucrée, la finale est longue et puissante.

Eye: Medium ruby

Nose: Red fruit. Plums, prunes, cooking spice. Feet.

Palate: It’s like if someone raisinated and sweetened some cdr. Moderately sweet. Prunes. Red fruit. Vinous. Pomegranate. Loads of crème de cassis

Finish: Short. Lightly sweet and red. Lingering curry spice.

Overall: I expected something closer to Port. I don’t think Banyuls are for me. There’s just something about sweet grenache that doesn’t sit right with my palate. I suspect that I drank this bottle far too young.

Light on it's feet as Grenache should be. Reminds me of what Chateneuf du Pape used to be. Bet Parker doesn't like it. Well balanced wine!

Big ripe blackberry, nutmeg, rosemary, thyme, barnyard. Took about two hours to open up. Velvety black fruit with some herbs and warm spices. Powdery tannins on the finish, but nothing before the finish. Low acidity. Despite the high (15%) alcohol, it doesn't come across as hot, but it definitely feels fat. Between the low acidity, heavy body, and minimal tannins, this wine is just fat. It's definitely a well made wine, I just dont think this should have aged this long. When younger, I get the feeling that the freshness of youth would have balanced this wine better.

Lots of sediment.
When decanting this wine was a deep ruby red.
Nose: liquorice, leather, white pepper spice and dark berry fruit.
Medium to full-bodied, softening tannins, rich plum pudding, a little prickle of bell pepper.
Not a long finish.

Pale gold. Nose is muted garrigue plus a bit of banana. Upon entry, this one really packs a wallop with aggressive mineral flavors, enough acidity and even some tannins. Mouthcoating! On the label, alcohol is listed at 14.5%, but there's a lot of legal leeway in that. 40% Grenache gris, 30% Grenache blanc, 10% Macabeu, 10% Roussanne, 10% Vermentino, according to the winery website. On the 2nd day opened, more garrigue comes out along with just a hint of oxidation. Due to its tannins, should continue to develop for several years. Grows on you the longer it stays open. Not for the faint of heart!

Very smooth mouthfeel leads to loads of rich berry fruit -- a little too rich, in fact. I get wary of whites and pinks that are at 14% ABV, and one such as this justifies that wariness. It's not hot or heavy exactly, but it's definitely on the weighty side vs. the kind of crisp, dry, elegant rosés I prefer. Almost has a caramel note to it, which is a tad disturbing. There's a shade of tart cranberry in the fruit profile, but it does little to counter the overall sweetness. Would not buy again.

I'd agree with the assessment that this is like a lighter Tawny Port. My first impressions were of prune juice, followed by black licorice. I get tobacco now too. Been drinking it over the course of a month, and it really hasn't changed at all. Has nice acidity, but what makes it most interesting as a dessert wine is that it's pretty firmly tannic. Having that structure makes an intriguing foil to the sweetness. Enjoyable overall, but not particularly special.

Som suggestion with the cheese platter. Not bad, felt like a lighter version of a tawny Port, with tobacco, nutty elements, but there was also a lot of white chocolate dominating of which I was less a fan.

We first had this at Le Voile in Collioure. We liked it so much that we hiked up to the winery a few days later, in the hills above Collioure, and bought a couple more bottles. We saw a couple of pallets there ready for shipping to Kermit Lynch. Gorgeous vistas from the very old vineyard. I think the cepage changes a bit from year to year, but this version had Grenache Blanc and Gris and a bit of Macabeu, Rolle (the local name for Vermentino) and Roussane. Very fresh, minerality, citrus, peach, and pear on the palate, and a terrific pairing with white fish and tuna tartare. Admittedly this is a little young - just released - and would probably do well in 2 years.

Discovered via book "Wine Girl". Found it in a shop in Santa Fe, NM. The wine shows strong color, depth and mouthfeel but, while well-made, is definitely rustic. The 15% alcohol is held at bay by the acid, fruit and tannins. 65% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, 5% Carignan. A Kermit Lynch wine. Super value.

I first learnt of this wine when reading Victoria James’ ‘Wine Girl’ - she highly rated and loved this wine for very agreeable sentimental and vinous reasons.

Notes from the Domaine refer to a blend of 65% Grenache noir (for fresh red berries and red plum), 30% Mourvèdre (for some ruddy structural, funky depth) and the remaining 5% a splash of Carignan (for some bright acidity, spice and herb) all adds up to a ruby red, purple edged, very appealing looking wine.

The nose offers up an enticing collection of aromas: red cherry, raspberry, herbaceousnous, brambles, black olives, vanilla, chocolate and ladies leather glove.

On the palate it's medium bodied with a rewarding mouthfeel, integrated tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is all good with a lovely lip smacking quality and a subtle though highly enjoyable slightly smokey eucalyptus tang.

Good to drink now perhaps with a nice juicy steak, chips and simple salad but will also live up to quite a few more years in the cellar no problem to add further complexity.

Footnote - Steak has been served, wine has opened. Two hours in a decanter will pay great dividends with this juvenile crowd pleasing wine. Now enjoying dusty, unctuous violets in the finish.. just wow.

PNP into ISO tasting glass ("Flower" day): Medium ruby to the eyes.

Dried and cooked red fruit, solvent note, leafy spices.

Sweet, but good fruit remained. Good bright acidity for its style and a good comparison to Ruby style Port?

Deep red center, red/pink rim with no real signs of age.
Good red wine nose with hints of muscat, sweet red fruit, a little smokey.
Smooth and sweet, plums, cherries and a touch of bubblegum, grapefruit, restrained alcohol, modest acid and tannin, good finish.
Interesting sweet red, port-like but lower alcohol, good now but can age.

Unassuming. Strict, quiet, barely there aromas of gunpowder, white flowers, blanched almonds. The pale hay colors suggest this is light and easy. It’s not.

It’s 14.5% - fatty oily, type A introvert of a wine.

Slightly hot, we get yellow peach, jasmine, almond. Drink this at cellar temp and drink slow, as she charges quick.

Dense and ripe, borderline too ripe. If the ABV were another half-percent higher, it would almost certainly be too hot and cloying. As is, it walks the line prretty effectively. Acid is good. It tastes distinctly sunny, reflecting its Mediterranean and Catalan origins. Intriguing but I'm not sure I expect much evolution out of my second bottle.
