This is not a wine that I come across often because I had never considered it to be to my taste.

Nose of crushed olive, smoke, licorice and spices.

The palate retains its vigor, but very soft with an ample attack due to the concentration of the juice. This unfolds all its vigor with aromas of leather, stewed red fruits and pepper. Once the first sensation of intensity has passed, the wine becomes more serene in the second half of the palate. It is always grained, which adds to the pleasure of complexity. The wine then becomes silky and textured on the palate. The balance is excellent with a nice acidity which carries the juice without any feeling of heaviness despite the intensity felt. Large peppery finish, with a seductive length reminiscent of leather aromas.

Superb umami and freshness after two days. Meaty, vanilla, dried hawthorn, lush jungle fruit, gamey, strawberry, cassis, inky, lightly earthy, so delicious. Not sharp but edgy acidity that keeps the wine entirely interesting for the blend. 94

It’s a Frenchie thing (Frenchie Bar à Vins & Frenchie , Paris): It’s been 4 years since we had this ( Papies 92) and definitely this has blossomed into something special and is far from its peak. Ironically we always find the reds of this estate to underperform vs the white and their price but boy have we been proven wrong here.
Just the nose on this beauty is mesmerising and definitely the high point of the wine. Nicol who tried this blind had no issued spotting the region/type but actually pushed in the end to Cote Rôtie. Impressive nose, expressive even with no decanting, soft rich fruit, lightest kiss of smoke, floral and just sings. The palate follows but not to the level and needs a few more years to develop and even show a secondary feel. An impressive wine easy 94 now and watch it grow.

good but felt like it was a tiny bit closed down... still lovely with darker fruit and a hint of umami, purplish fruit and decent acidity, with a little smoke in the background (but the syrah came through so with real fruit depth, ie not all / mostly smoke)... would think these bottles (I have 9 more) will do better in the late 20's / early or mid 30's

A blend of Syrah (40%), Mourvèdre (40%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10%), Counoise (10%). 14,5% alcohol. Forceberry's note from May 23 sums this up beautifully. A cult wine now of course but the quality and longevity are undeniable. A point. Needs air and time to express itself.

I rarely have a white from Southern France that I really love, but this was really great. Lovely ripe tropical fruits, just about enough acidity to keep things interesting and make you want that next sip, lots of intensity. Nice!

Opened and decanted 2 hours ahead of traditional St. Paddy's Day dinner of roasted corned beef, boiled potatoes and cabbage, and Irish Soda Bread (rest assured, we had a delicious Reuben's Dry Stout before dinner too). This Grange had a bright Crimson color and a floral nose of potpourri, lavender, violets, roses, and beef stew. The palate is medium, round, and textured, bringing an incredible purity of fruit (pommegranite, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, rhubarb) mixed with secondary notes (licorice, wild herbs, wood smoke, olives, wild game) that hit the apron hard into a 2-minute extended finish. I wanted more from the nose but it was more than made up by the juicy acidity and extended, layered finish (i.e., extremely drinkable). Delightful wine that lived up to the hype. Drink 2024-2034. Technical score: 95. Enjoyment score: 95.

served about 1½ hours after opening. Very nice and elegant, with plenty of leather along with a little medicinal and savory minerals on the nose. Just so smooth and drinking beautifully.

Opened way too young. Still reticent. An impulse open (this was a bottle purchased together with a friend—he was in town and we made a poor decision to open). Floral and fruity nose. Plum fruit roll ups and tobacco on the palate. Nice acidity but not the usual profile of a GDP. Luckily we have more!!!!

Really clumsy to start but did open after a few hours decanting. Blind I might guess Cab franc and Syrah. Rustically ripe with some green. Loads of black tea. Based on vintages a few years older I’ve had I would hold for 3-5 years.

Good from the start. Ripe orchard fruit with a good amount of reduction. Stylistically it’s a PYCM mixed with a Prefert Clairette Blanche. Deep golden color. Good acid and structure. Better in a few years but not a wast to drink now.

That’s no doubt the most intriguing and interesting wine I’ve ever had in my life. Nose and mouth are not simple and the final with this intense pepper is not common at all. Amazing wine

An aged Grange des Peres can be an amazing experience, which this was. First, the nose of sweet dark fruit, violets, herbs, etc was amazing. The lushness of the mouthfeel was probably the second best part. Overall, the color was dark but starting to brick a bit at the rim, the fruit was really lush and interesting with almost a blend of cherries, plums, grapes and some spices and herbs like sage. The finish was long. The wine feels at peak but didn’t seem to be nearing any decline.

Wine Bros: A Study of Syrah (Cowford Chophouse): I wish I’d gotten into this wine when it was a bit more reasonably priced but alas no and while the pricing is quite crazy I can understand it. It’s a great wine. Bright and beautiful and classy and a bit more herbal and spice and still the fruits and I quite enjoyed it.

Sadly our last bottle. Still looking young with no brown edges. Lovely mature wine that has finally come together with no trace of bret which dominated most of our previous 5 bottles.
